My internert is AWFUL (15 Download + 2 Upload)

My internet connection is a joke. I dont know ANYONE else who has internet like this. Yes I live in a rural area but this surely shouldnt be allowed? We are paying full price for "fast" broadband and this is what we get? My job is highly dependant on the use of internet at home and I can NEVER get anything done. I'm miserable, and quite frankly fed up and i refuse to accept that there's nothing that can be done. I've had 3 different sky employees in my house checking things and they've all told me "there's nothing we can do, there's just not very good connection in this area" ???? it's 2022 for crying out loud. We will 100% be leaving Sky and will not EVER be returning or paying for the tv or phones either. This is pathetic. Just for reference, my connection is fine if I am the only person in the house. If ANYONE else is here using the wifi, its not even useable.

When playing games, my ping is constantly spiking from 11 - 200 and is never stable.

OK: the first thing to establish is whether your speed is being impacted by a line fault, or is a natural result based on the laws of physics because data signalling over copper wire has known properties regarding loss over distance.

If you post your Hub stats, we'll have some information about your particular phone line and internet connection to work with.

Note that it's speed arriving at the Hub which counts against the minimum speed guarantee, not speed test website results on a wireless device.

No ISP can deliver speeds greater than the physical infrastructure connecting your address can carry: you are paying for a 'best effort' service.  The national minimum set by government in the Universal Service Obligation is currently 10Mbs inbound and 1Mbs upload.

@abbielena slow conections are not only allowed but are quite common. The issue is with broadband over copper phone lines is speeds are related to the length of your phone line which is simply down to physics. The only solution for a fixed connection is to run fibre to your property which you can theoretically order but be prepared for a five figure bill.  Sometimes groups of neighbours can share this cost its worth talking to your parish council as this is an issue they often are aware of. Openreach are extending fibre coverage as a commercial investment but most rural areas wont be covered as the costs will never be covered, there is central government money but that is down to your local authority to use. Virgin and the many other fibre suppliers are also unlikely to pass your address fir the samecreason but its worth looking into that locally.

There is a minimum Universal Service Obligation of 10Mb/s down 1Mb/s up for people who cannot get that speed can access extra funding for mobile or other solutions but you are not entitled to that with your current speeds  Your other options are to look into Mobile Broadband if you are in an area with decent coverage or the new satellite services like Starlink which are not cheap are designed for remote locations.

Sky will normally release you from contract if you can find a faster service but you can't demand they do as legally they dont have to.

@abbielena  It might be worth using this link to see what is available at your address, https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

As already noted though if ADSL is the only service available going to another ISP won't magice up faster speeds due to reason already provided buy @Chrisee  & @TimmyBGood

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

That's not ADSL though: the outbound speed is too high.  Most likely to be FTTC over a long length of copper, then reduced further by using WiFi within the property.
