Moving from VM to Sky

hi,

I subscribed the Sky boardband service days ago(swtiching from VM). Then I receive emails from VM charging me early disconnection fees on boardband and landline in total for over £80. I went to Sky instore yesterday and the staff told me I can get help from calling Sky instead. I tried calling the "Call Us" but got nowhere to understand which option I should key. Over £80 is really too much to switch at the original activation date.

Anyone can help to advise?

Thanks

Andy

@Andy3d Sky do refund up to £100 of the cost of switching before the contract has expired see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/switching-credit-offer

Hi @Andy3d

I am a bit confused on your question. If you signed up to Sky before the end of your VM contract you will be charged early termination fees, this is normal. Its not something Sky can help with directly you would need to speak to VM.

Re: Moving from VM to Sky

hi,

Please bear with me as this is the first time I am switching boardband service provider. You mean subscribe new service only after current contract expired?

I searched and it got someting like change activation date. I just want to confirm if this form(https://www.sky.com/help/forms/oivr) can help with me(Or I cancel current subscription and then join again after expired existing contract) such that I can use the VM service till the end and start the Sky afterwards. Otherwise maybe VM's latest offer(£1 lower than Sky) after receiving my termination request fits me.

Thanks

Andy

Re: Moving from VM to Sky

Another VM customer jumping ship 😁

Hope all goes well. I joined Sky 500 few weeks ago leaving Virgin Media after 5+ years.

You won't regret the move as the latency is far superior than Virgin.

Re: Moving from VM to Sky

What router was you using with Virgin Media?

I was using their Hub 4 set to modem mode and my own TP-link router. I am doing the same with Sky,  using my TP-Link so nothing changed on Wi-Fi coverage and no disruptions either.

As for the early termination charge, I think Sky does cover upto £50 for 150Mbs and £100 for 500Mbs, but I left left Virgin Media the final 2 weeks of the contract so got a part credit on final bill.

Re: Moving from VM to Sky

I am using Hub 3. Connection was not very good in some place of my house and VM sent me a wifi booster.

Hope the Sky one will be good.

Andy

Re: Moving from VM to Sky

@Andy3d If you wish to have a booster or think that you will need, then when you sign up to sky ensure that you have the Sky Max hub and also subscribe to the Sky Max addon, details below.
