Moving Sky broadband and telephone to a different room

Hello,

The Sky broadband engineer came yesterday and connected up my broadband and phone in a different room, (in a cupboard where the master socket is). He said that he could not extend it on to the existing phone line in the living room, because VirginMedia is currently using it (I have  now disconnected from VirginMedia so the line should be free). Therefore how can I now get Sky to now move the broadband and phone connection to the living from the cupboard?

Thanks in advance.

H.

Openreach would normally put the line in where it is closest to the outside line.

If the line in the living room was in use, and they have left you with a working service, they wouldn't come out and move you for free.

You would need to pay for a master socket relocation which is £65, because Openreach will be satisfied that you were connected correctly and the service is working, they are not required to install the connection where you want it but where they can confirm it is working. Which often leaves people with master sockets in weird places sadly.

If you did want to go ahead with it you would need to call our team who can arrange it for you.  https://www.sky.com/help/articles/contacting-sky

@bigH007 its worth asking Sky but there could be a fee but the engineer should have explained that if it was feasible so there maybe technical reasons why its a difficult job. Virgin engineers often diasble Openreach lines as part of their install in which case what you think is simple may not be.
