Latency and Internet problems

Latency problems of Internet unable to be consistent and resulting in ping/latency spikes going to 1650 all the time and making the Internet not possible to use. Internet struggles at multiple points and struggles to load simple videos when it says it is working fine through the sky broadband website. Problems didn't exist before but have been active for some time.

@SimonHill can you give some more details such as is this on multiple devices or only one?. How the device(s) are networked and whether yiu have made changes to the network.recently? Lastly how are you measuring the ping is to a soecific site or by using a test like Ooklas Speedtest.net?

Re: Latency and Internet problems

On all devices on the network. The devices are connected via Ethernet and wireless but both are experiencing the same problems, even when plugged into the WiFi directly, the problem has maintained through box changes, pinging using the command console on computers and Internet speed test websites like ookla. Have tried and checked everything that the sky website says but nothing has worked.

Re: Latency and Internet problems

@SimonHill run the command and let it do the whole 10 minutes. When it is finished copy and paste the results as you see below. Do it over Ethernet preferred...

ping bbc.co.uk -n 600

""Ping statistics for 2a04:4e42::81:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 14ms, Maximum = 17ms, Average = 15ms""

https://imgur.com/a/RLmm14U This is a link to screenshots of the ping command results. As you can see the ping is incredibly high and inconsistent and occasionally stops for periods of time. This is on Ethernet cable

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

is there a way I can get a engineer to visit? According to the sky website my Internet is fine.

Re: Latency and Internet problems

@SimonHill Yes you have a high packet loss, when you said Ethernet was there anything else on either Ethernet connected like a sky Q mini etc or other wireless wi-fi devices!
