Landline connection box in wrong room

Hi

My skybox with the option of plugging in the landline is in one room. Up to now we have used cordless sets to access the landline in other rooms with the base unit beside the sky box. My mum lives with us and her eyesight is fading and she can no longer use the cordless handsets so we need to install a base phone in her room. We cannot run a long cable internally as their are too many rooms to cross but we could run a cable externally along side of the house and into her room. Do we need a sky engineer for this or whoould help?

Sky (and ISPs in general) don't do internal phone extension cabling at all, and these days neither does Openreach.

They may be able to move the router itself (for a fee) if that's what you wanted to do.

Otherwise a local handyperson or electrician would be more appropriate.

Edit: to keep the cordless handset base station and add a cabled extension you'd need a phone socket doubler to plug in at the Hub end.

Re: Landline connection box in wrong room

Thank you. I think I will need to contact a local electrician and get them to take a look.
