How to setup a TP-Link WiFi 7 BEXXXX Router (May work for others) to replace Sky Hub Router

Here is how to completely replace a Sky Hub Router with a new TP-Link WiFi 7 BEXXXX device.
1. Connect to the LAN port
2. From browser 192.168.0.1 and login
3. Exit 'Quick Setup'
4. On Internet Connection, go to Advanced Settings (bear in mind menus move!)
5. Select IPv6 and enable
6. Select Dynamic IP (SLAAC/DHCPv6)
6. Go to: Advanced Settings of IPv6:
7. Select DHCPv6
8. Select Prefix Delegation Enabled
9. Select DNS address: Get Dynamically from ISP
10. Scroll to IPv6 LAN
11. Select SLAAC + Stateless DHCP
12: MAC Clone: Choose Custom MAC address. Enter the MAC address of your OLD Sky Hub (found on back of device). If you do not do this it will not work. Sky use MAC address security now.

Thanks for writing that up, hopefully some people find it useful.

Step 12. isn't required.  Whilst subscriber sessions on the BNG and DHCP leases are bound to the MAC address, it's not used for authentication or identification.

A very small % of subscribers are still on the old BNG platform that needs the old device to be left unplugged for ~15mins for the session to timeout before connecting the new CPE, it sounds like you are included in this cohert.

This timeout isn't required on the new platform, it will detect a different CPE being connected and proactively time the old session out to let the new one come up immediately.   All subscribers should be on this new platform by the end of the year.

I'm wondering is this discussion still open?  I have have  TPLINK VR2800 Router worked fine up until recently on the Sky Fibre Broadband Network.   Now for the life of me, I cannot get it connected,  I have tried quick setup with MER settings but nothing, no Internet connection.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks very much.

Yes, I have full fibre 100 connected at the minute via a Sky hub, model 203, there must be a a setting on the Tplink that needs changed.

@Gavinv Was the Tp-Link on a FTTC part Fibre copper line or always connected on the FF100 connection?

It's an FTTC connection, fibre to cabinet connection.  Connected to the white box on the wall,  supplied by openreach.

@Gavinv Sorry you cannot have both working to the same premises with sky, that is NOT allowed, so you either have a FF100/ONT or a copper OR Master Phone socket connection. If not 100% sure post your SR203 stat's up those will say what your connection type is!

@Gavinv Ok, pictures cleared so you are on a FF150 speed connection, and would advise you set the VR2800 Router in Ethernet mode operation, forget about the MER and just try the iPv6 PD mode first as the get go with that TP.

Since there is now an EOL on it from Tp-Link may be time to dump it and move up the Router only range!
