It says you need to do it via Sky app. when i go to Sky app, it allows me to change naem but for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz no options to seperate them!!!! arggg please can someone help?

Find out more@fieldj565 you can turn the wifi bands off or on using the My Sky app. The web interface has only one user control which is security setting all customer configuration changes will be done via the app. If you have devices that wont link try switching off the 5GHz band then connectvthe device and turn the 5GHz band back on. It would help,if you can confirm whether thst works or not.
Sky have not told us why they hhave not allowed band splitting but thry are clear thst it isn't planned. My theory is by splitting the band you will ose significant speed as Wifi6 uses both bands.

Having the exact same problem, did you come to a conclusion?

I am having the same problem.......Any luck?

I am having the same issue where I can't use smart lighting in the house which is really frustrating. I turned off 5GHz to connect but when I turned it back on it must have switched to the 5GHz as it stopped working straight away. Surely everyone will have this issue with smart products that required 2.4GHz?!

I am having the same issue. So frustrating. This was easy to sort when I was with Virgin but for some reason it seems impossible to separate on Sky. This must be a problem for so many people - Smart plugs/lights etc are so common now. @SkyHelpTeam please help.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@NHowl the new WiFi Max hub offers higher WiFi6 speeds which require tge two bands to be synchronised. Thecrecommended pricess to connect IOT kit is quite simple go into the WiFI Max Hub's settings in My Sky app and click on Advanced Settings click on the Disable WiFi button dismiss the warnings that come up and you will see two controls, disable the 5GHz band, the hub will take a coupke of minures to do that. Then connect your IOT equipment. Once you have tested conne then repeat the process and re-enable the 5GHz band and your equipment shoukd stay connected.
If any kit doesnt connect please pist the make and model so we can feed that back to Sky

I did sort it in the end by 'Disabling' the 5.0Hz and then 're-enabling'. Although I expected the devises to connect to 2.4Hz whilst the 5.0 was disabled, this didn't work. I then decided to 're-enabled' the 5.0Hz, after this i 'forgot/uninstalled' the devises I was struggling to connect to the wifi on 2.4Hz (in my case Smart Plugs), then reinstalled the Smart Plugs. Unpon reinstall it seem that they connected fine - I presume selecting the correct frequency themselves this time, which they didn't seem able to do prior the action I listed above (they simply kept trying to select 2.4Hz and ended up saying 'unable.to connect').
Not sure this is the correct technical fix but somehow I got there. In total, about 2hrs of my life lost that I will never get back! I would say it is certainly a flaw by Sky. It shouldn't be this hard to connect something so common in this day and age. If it was my parents trying to do this, then there wouldn't be a chance and they would simply give up/cancel the package/or go without devises that previously worked.

I think the Wifi Max hub is a bit of an atypical Wifi 6 design because generally Wifi 6 routers/APs will just use the 5GHz band. My Wifi 6 bridge I have at home is capable of transferring data at over 2Gbps on the 5GHz band.
Wifi 6e is a slightly different because it uses 5Ghz and 6GHz bands for the extra throughput.

Looking to split the network ranges as described in this article.
Looking at the responses, it seems the capability isn't there. I assume I could simply plug my old router in at this point.
Return the Sky Max hub and then get a third Party router that does what I want, this seems to be the most appropriate approach. Unless there is something that can be changed,.
