IP address CIDR, would this be something like 192.168.0.255 somethig outside of the DHCP range or do i need something else?
Gateway is 192.168.0.250 or is it 192.168.0.1?

anyone??
I just bought a mini pc and im going to erase it all and install proxmox on it
Issue im having is finding a a range outside of skys DHCP
What range should I add?
example: 192.168.0.1 is gateway or server for sky correct (router address)
I need to add something like 192.168.0.2 or 192.164.0.254 or 5,6,7, etc??
Im confused.

Re: HELP!!
Are you setting up a firewall with that setup one usually steps outside the range on the LAN side, so eg: 192.168.1.0 to 192,168,254 and the WAN port should point to the Sky router 192,168,0,1 when adding the firewall at the parameter one would setup that directly connected to the ONT/modem then any range is acceptable within the private address space.
Please explain further what you are doing with the mini PC.

Re: HELP!!
Hi Mae!
Trying to do this https://youtu.be/jNEjKdtMrZI?si=OFMPYlcH-YKXal1E&t=364
I have proxmox on a flash drive and want to wipe my windows mini pc for proxmox so i can run VMS, firewall, docker, kubers, etc
I'm aiming to have a small rack. The modem to the router (that will be marble from GIinet) https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-b3000/
And from the router to the mini pc (proxmox) and later other mini pc's to create a cluster
Nothing fancy. I installed fedora on an old thinkpad and hopefully after all this is done i can buy a rack to add it all in and look pretty

Re: HELP!!
Should I also buy fortigate or sophos or dell or hp for a firewall hardware solution to my problems for a truly secure firewall or stick to those mini routers we spoke about before?
Its frustrating because when im about to jump in and buy the hardware we spoke about a few months back. Youtubers were going back to full fledge server racks stating AI is the all new and needing more powerful systems such as tray rack systems not mini pc's etc
And Im not one for branded routers such as protectli and they are expensive especially limit restrictions etc
And now people are going back to PFsense but merging opensence inside of PF?? whyyyyyyyyyy!!!
as you know...im a noob...and its all to much for me to handle alone

Re: HELP!!
One needs a fixed public IP address that Sky does not offer or a reverse proxy via a third party such as CloudFlare for a dynamic IP address.

Re: HELP!!
The IP address is wrong it should be 192.168.0.2 and the subnet should be 255.255.255.0, everything else seems right for the proxy.
But you don't have a fixed public IP address so gaining access may cause an issue from the internet.

Re: HELP!!
Thank you Mae!
The Static ip address will be released by netbird or some other firewall VPN or DNS host before its released to proxmox.
Im still a noob when it comes to all the network protocols etc
