FTTC Broadband Speed

I live in the countryside where there are no current plans for full fibre. My speeds have been 22 or 23 mbs but recently dropped below 18 and below speed guarantee (18.5). I can leave Sky with no fee but concerned that other providers will not be able to increase speed. Can't understand why Sky's speed has dropped. Anybody any similar experiences that can help or should I go Starlink

Sky typically offers the option to leave a minimum contract term without penalty where the Guaranteed Minimum Download Speed is not being delivered and they have no confidence Openreach will resolve the situation.

No Openreach ISP could offer anything better.

Presumably what was already a lengthy or poor quality copper line has degraded further: that's unfortunately inherent to what's essentially an Edwardian communication bearer.
