I look after a small website. I use FTP Commander to upload the web pages (html and images etc). Following fibre and router installation I had to replace my WiFi adapter in my pc to "see" and connect to the new network, which did the trick.
So website update required, ok until I came to ftp the changes to the host. Connected ok and kicked off the data transfer. Came back and the upload was still running (should have finished by then). I started to look around and in the end had to close FTP Commander down as it appear to have stopped responding. Started the process again, but this time it refused to connect properly, the only info I got was - waiting for host FTP. Ok tried several times, and then tried FileZilla - that just tells me that my login is invalid, although details are correct. Did some digging about and thought it might be something to do with the firewall blocking ports 20 & 21 (which i believe Commander uses}. So tried setting firewall rules to accommodate, also switched Firewall off still no joy. Spent a lot of frustrated time this evening, and again managed to get Commander to connect and started the upload, about an hour and a half later, it again appeared to have stopped responding. Back to square one.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreCould be any number of things with the Sky max hub. MAP-T might be the issue for you though. Are you able to login to your routers admin settings and see what your current MAP-T state is? It should be either 8:1 or 1:1

Thanks, I'll have a look and get back.

Incidentally, if your hosting platform permits it, you might want to consider using SFTP rather than FTP (which is now over half a century old ; )

@TimmyBGood I had seen this mentioned around and about, I will have a word with them and see if they support it. Given how long it has been about, you would hope so, but I'm often disappointed 😂.
cheers

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreTry the FTP on 1:1 now, if that doesnt work you may need to speak to the hosting company.

@jamesn123 @TimmyBGood , as I said earlier, I have managed to update my website using FTP Commander, thanks once again. As Timmy suggested I asked about SFTP, and yes they do support it, so I thought I would give it a go. I've tried FileZilla and Winscp, sadly unable to connect to the server (or access denied) both trying SFTP and plain old FTP. I tried switching off windows firewall, but still no luck.
Whilst I am ok using the old stuff, I wondered if either of you had any further suggestions as to why neither of these programs work.
Many thanks!
