Re: Disney plus buffering, also Now TV

Don't know if it's related to the above.

A few sites that I've tried to access on Safari and Firefox on my iPad, and Chrome and Firefox on my PC, time out,  and I get for example "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding"

For example, I can go to

https://www.gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details

perfecty fine, but on that page, if I click on START,   after a long wait I get the server not responding message.

.

However,  I tried with my VPN active on PC, set to Amsterdam, and clicking START on that page, instantly works.

I put my VPN onto my iPad, sure enough with it turned on, I can click START on that page, and it instantly opens.  I try again with VPN off and server times out.

Hub was only reset a few days ago and on iPad, iP address and DNS are both set to automatic.

thanks.

It's still doing it (bearing in mind I've reset my hub, tried on lan, wireless and followed all suggestions) but I've noticed something strange.

I've just watched an episode of family guy and I had the buffering, I rewound and sure enough, exactly the same bit buffered again.

so I recorded a vid of it, sure enough same part buffered, and I recorded me rewinding and playing same part back and it does it in the same spot again.

The second attached vid showed how bad it's getting sometimes (speed tests are giving me excellent results), bearing in mind, this vid is after I rewound the Disney channel and it is happening in exactly same place.

Can you just clarify what device you are streaming family guy on and via what service?

Re: Disney plus buffering, also Now TV

@jamesn123

I'm using the Disney + App on my Sky Q box.

Sky Q box was initially wired when it first started happening.  Initially it was going through a gigabit switch.

Since then have tried going direct from Sky Q to the router, no difference.

Then I tried wireless, it's the same.

I've had Sky check my broadband, they say it's all fine and my mesh is fine.

I've completely reset the router and only thing I've done since then is change my router login password, my SSID and my wireless password.

I've had it happen once for a second while using Netflix (via app on sky q box) , but I've watched a lot of Netflix and it's only happened the once (although that was in the past few weeks)

If I go onto the Netflix app, help, Check your network, everything passes and I have a connection speed of 71.40 Mbps

I'm also loosing my network connection an awful lot lately.  All 3 green lights on the router, but I can't load a web page on my iPad, wife can't on hers, reboot router and it's fine.

Had Sky broadband for years and never had any problems until this year, and the problems seem to have got a lot worse since I renewed my contract (which was when I signed up to Disney)

My daughter visited last weekend, she said "what on earths wrong with your broadband, it's taking ages to load web pages (on her phone using my network).

I ran a speed test straight away on my iPad, sure enough, it comes back telling me I have 72 Mbps down and 18 Mbps  up.

So, all Skys tests work fine *****,Netflix network test works fine, but still getting random freezes on the entire network and this very very odd freezing on Disney.  Surely if Disney had a problem, this forum and others would be full of people shouting about it rather than just me?

***** Except that if I phone Sky and use their automated support, when they run their "Quick health check, we are now going to check your line....." they always come back saying "it looks like there is a problem with your in home setup", but actual employees run their tests and it's coming back fine.

A month has now gone by since I started this thread and it seems to be getting worse not better.  If Sky don't sort it soon, I will look into leaving Sky (after 24  years  ) as I'm not getting the service I'm paying for (when I lose internet, Sky Q TV guide doesn't work, so it's affecting the TV too.

Sure any service can have problems from time to time, but a month in, I'm starting to loose patience. If a Sky employee contacts me, I guarantee they will go through the same thing I've already gone through and tell me nothings wrong (although the automated system says there is). To be honest, I love Sky, but I haven't got the time or effort to keep trying to sort the same problem out, when I'm paying what I pay each month, I shouldn't have to.

Note: The times these posted Disney channel freezes happened, only me in the house, hence no one downloading stuff etc.

Sorry for the rant, I appreciate you don't work for Sky, not having the rant at you, I'm just getting a little frustrated.

Thanks

Its odd that it still occurs if you rewind the show, makes me think its a problem with the app on the Sky box

Re: Disney plus buffering, also Now TV

@jamesn123 @Addie15 @Greenfingers001

Yep you are right. Been watching Disney + on my TV app for about a week, zero buffering. Go to Sky app and it buffers straight away.

which brings up the question why is the Sky Disney + app doing this to me and not everyone else?  My TV smart interface is very clunky and would much rather use the Sky app.

I went into settings, 001 and refreshed apps made no difference.

10 mins ago yet again my PS5 online game kicked me out with no connection, went on my iPad, no connection either (ps5 wired). Rebooting the router fixed this, but for years I've never had a problem like this, just the last few months.

Thanks

@jamesn123 @Addie15 @Greenfingers001 @Chrisee

Any chance of escalating this so that I can have a chat with a Sky employee please?

Internet dropping out is getting silly now,  must be something wrong with the hub.

All 3 lights on green, rebooting router fixes it.

Also the speed,  it struggles to load web pages at times, especially pics, for example I'm in my Amazon app on my iPad OR on my wired PC, it takes about 30 seconds to load any pictures.

I then run a Speedtest and am getting 70Mbps down and 18Mbps up,  but internet still sluggish (not just Amazon).

This has been going on since just after  I renewed my contract, I created this post on 10th Oct.

when it happens only me on my iPad to both me and my wife on iPads, it's not loads of us all online at one time. Every time someone visits and I let them use my Wi-Fi, they ask why my internet is so slow.  Connects to the router 100% fine. Connects in any room in the house, but usually me and my wife are less that 7 ft away from the router.

would like it sorted before Xmas if possible, been working fine for years and years up until last couple of months,

The previous time a Sky Employee contacted me, everything passed their end, my mesh is fine etc, but it's still not working  for me, and while the Sky website test passes fine, while the Sky employees test passes fine, when I phone up and use the automated system, it still tells me that there's a problem with my home setup.

thanks

Re: Disney plus buffering, also Now TV

I phoned up Sky today, they ran tests and said they can see a problem with my in-house setup, exactly the same as I have been reporting since I first started this thread.

weird that the employees who contacted me through this forums chat, said no fault at all found, I even phoned while chatting to one and got the same error message.

Anyway new hub dispatched and should be here tomorrow or Monday

Re: Disney plus buffering, also Now TV

Update:

New hub and cable from hub to master socket installed, still the same problem.

replaced master socket with nte5c mk2 and mk4 faceplate, still the same and when I phone, still telling me I have a problem with my in-house setup.

Phoned Sky, they ran tests, problem with my in-house setup, they agreed it's odd as it can't be my in-house with a new hub, cable and master socket, they kept rerunning line tests and after 3 times, it came up with a fault outside  my property.

They've arranged for open reach to come out in next 48 hrs.

I suspect that as my internet can be fine for 45 mins then suddenly go, it's an intermittent fault with the line and Sky employee managed to catch it.

hopefully have good news soon

Re: Disney plus buffering, also Now TV

Update 2

Openreach were outside for about 4 hrs this morning, they knocked on my door and said they had found a problem and fixed it, and everything should now be ok.

I've just phoned Sky and done an automated check, expecting all to be fine. What does it tell me?

"There is a problem with your in home setup"

So far all appears OK though, will let you know in a few days

Network has been fine, no dropouts.

Disney channel still the same, also started doing it on other channels too, seems to be mainly when watching cartoons.

This morning it said no viewing card, and I had to pull the power cord out and back in to reboot the Qbox before it accepted the card (cards never been touched).

Then watched The Simpsons on ch4 HD and got same buffering style issue as I've been getting on Disney +, this was on live TV though.

signal strength 70, signal quality 90

Will phone tomorrow as don't want Qbox dying over Christmas

Re: Disney plus buffering, also Now TV

Spoke to sky twice today, first time they had me do a factory reset on my Qbox, second time as still had problems, they have arranged for a new Sky Q box to be sent out.
