Ever since I've had Sky's 500mb fibre I have rarely seen the advertised speeds of 400mb+, sometimes over 100mb but generally poorer than when I had a 67mb connection.
I've line tested and called and always get told it is 500mb to the router and the issue must be LAN/WAN side. I've tested with wired and wireless connectivity and it is always the same speeds regardless of connection or device.
I've changed wireless channel and loads of other things but nothing gets better.
Tonight for instance I'm getting speeds from 3mb to 100mb and being told by Sky there is no problem with my connection but also:
Router Stats:
This service is just not good enough.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Willeh normally if you report a test run over direct gigabit ethernet when nothing else is running the agents should accept that report but you may have to raise this as a formal complaint see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/how-to-make-a-complaint.
There have been a number of reports of similar reduced speeds in the forum which the Superusers raised with our Sky contacts who confirmed there were issues. Recently Sky took the Gigabit product off sale temporarily presumably because they cannot reliably offer those speeds. The cause is therefore probably contention in some areas where too many customers are competing for limited bandwidth which needs boosting. The issue isnt national as my own new service is delivering over 500Mb/s consistently but I am the first customer.in my area which is only partially built at the moment. If it is contention you should see speeds rise at quieter times say early mornings and drop at busy times.

Thanks for the response Crisee, I'm pretty sure I was the first on our estate too and it's never been right from the start. Obviously I left it for the first 10 days as it can be up and down but it's horrendously unreliable day to day, which isn't helping when working from home.
I'll put a complaint in.

Hiya
Just a heads up if connecting with ethernet all ethernet leads are not the same and could actually reduce the speed of your ethernet connection I only found this out recently when upgrading to fibre look at the labelling if your ethernet leads if you have old ones cat 5 or below get some cat 5e or cat 6 ones made the world of difference to my powerline network speeds on devices that had gigabit ethernet ports that could take advantage and not limited by a 100mb/s port
I had slow WiFi too but once I put the streaming TVs on powerline ethernet back to the router that seemed to pick up too
I think having less devices in the house connected directly to the router WiFi made the world of difference..
Mike..
