Contract Query

Hi there,

On my account home page, I'm currently seeing the following message

Your Sky Broadband contract ends soon
Your bill will change, see your renewal deal here.

This takes me to a page where it's prompting me to renew my contract for £40 a month as opposed to £43 with a £3 savings. I'm currently paying £26 a month and as per my contract taken out on 3rd March 2023 this was for an 18-month period (which should end no earlier than 3rd September 2024), where the prices would go up to £35.50 and I'd be in a rolling contract afterwards at that amount.

Firstly, why am I being prompted to renew over 2 months early (and for a much higher price) - if I don't take any action will I still be locked into my £26 offer until 3rd September or am I now going to start being billed the £43 amount from August as that's what my account seems to be suggesting. Secondly, how does £35.50 change to £43? I understand RPI increases but that sounds much higher than I'm used to.

Finally, are there any better offers available than £40 a month? Or am I able to just switch to any other Openreach-backed provider for half the price when my contract is up?

Thank you!

Re: Contract Query

Just to add context I have also had the following email from Sky last Thursday that I've just seen

As of 1 April 2024, changes were introduced to the standard monthly price of your product(s). We applied some offers to your account, meaning you’ve been protected from these increases until the end of your minimum term.

From 1 April 2024, the price of your package will be:

Sky Broadband Superfast

£43.00

Over a 21% increase to what I'm currently paying 🤐

@TylerSands12  Give Sky a call and see what they can offer you in the way of a new deal for your services that are coming to the end of your minimum term contract.
