I’m unable to get FTTP until next year, but I wanted to upgrade my wifi a bit and have a decent router for when I do. I’ve tried following various settings etc but I can’t seem to get my setup to work despite reading that it should. Here is what I’ve done.
Physical Setup:
DSL > DSL port on TP Link TD W-9970
LAN1 Port TP-Link TD W-9970 > WAN port on ASUS TUF AX3000 V2
TP-Link Configuration (Bridge Modem Only Mode):
I followed this guide: https://url.net.au/support/configure-tp-link-w9960-for-bridge-mode-nbn
The only bit I did differently was having the region and time zone to UK and GMT.
ASUS TUF AX3000 Configuration (Mainland UK MER):
I skipped the quick setup and made changes to two pages, by following these left by a Sky customer on Amazon:
Advanced Settings > IPv6: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61o9VUN244L.jpg
Advanced Settings > WAN: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61ozAjX5YEL.jpg
I still get the red internet light on the ASUS router. Am I meant to configure the WAN settings on the TP-Link instead of the ASUS router? I assumed that when I put the TP-Link into bridge mode, it would act just like a dumb translator, and then I’d configure the ISP settings on the ASUS.
Thanks in advance!

Try enabling vlan id and set it to 101 on the tp link
Then on the asus enable upnp and change aggressive to normal for query frequency
Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 55 inch uhd tv, with Dolbyvision, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21
If I get it right mark as answered
If I get it wrong humour me
If I say something you like give a thumbs up

Re: Configuring Sky Superfast FTTC > TP Link TD-W9970 (modem only mode) > ASUS TUF AX3000 V2
Amazing. Thanks to both of you. I spent ages looking at various posts to troubleshoot for my new TP Link/Asus combo and these two comments had everything I needed.

UPnP will automatically set up lan devices using the routers lan UPnP servers so you don't have to manually reserve addresses.
