Cable from pole to house .

Hi all , due to get fibre 500 B/B soon , my copper cable comes in to the house from under the ground , wondering if they might put the new cable from the pole on to my house and drop it down the brick work instead of underground??? Also ( stupid question ) but I presume the new cable is fibre optic ??? Just asking in case it gets placed next to an external aerial coax and hope it doesn't interfere with signal....thanks

@edgie700  Could you please fill in the form from the link below. When posting the image please make sure to hide the information in the top-left corner please and then the community can look at what steps that Openreach will take to install the cable to your property. That could be from the pole or it might be underground.

Looks like openreach will use the underground route as there is an existing duct.  I don't believe they are likely to change that to overhead

Ah right , yes there is a plastic duct from the ground against the wall, how on earth do they pass a cable underground to that , in front of that plastic duct is the garden

Its called rod and rope .   A flexible carbon fibre rod is pushed thru the duct with the fibre "rope" attached.  I assume the duct leads somewhere for them to do that

Re: Cable from pole to house .

The pole is actually next to my house and I do have on the pavement next to my house two man hole covers , one BT and one worldwide fibre, so for ease the pole to house would be the easiest

They won't go from a pole when the survey says there's a duct: it's not just that final section which is significant, but the rest of the local distribution topology including the locations of the Connectorised Block Terminals and Passive Optical Splitters.

One might suggest that having a 21st century communications network suspended from slowly decaying timber uprights not entirely unlike a bronze-age ship mast is something of a contradiction ; )

Re: Cable from pole to house .

Haha gotcha , I'll be happy if they use a duct , I honestly thought it was the way they would choose ( off the pole ) but if that survey says it's a duct at least they will be prepared, thanks

@edgie700 Also looks like the Fibre on the pole is not OR but someone else.

Re: Cable from pole to house .

@edgie700 The sticking out one looks very much like what Virgin Media use for there fibre, the other one in the middle do not know who, not enough detail from expanding the picture to see, but anyhow the do not look like OR, there one will be in that ground chamber box, so when they are doing your's take a peak, always handy to know where your cable is going to!
