@Laurakelly

I wouldn't use a 'third-party' power supply so you would need to call Sky to get a new one sent out.

Re: Broken sky max hub power cable

The SR213 uses a USB-C PSU so you should be able to use another USB-C charger to power it, as long as the replacement has the same or greater current/wattage rating.

If you want an original before Monday at the very earliest, you could search your local Facebook Marketplace or Ebay for a complete router. The router's are actually Sky's property & shouldn't be for sale, but they are.

Depends when you call but normally you can getvthrough to an agent in a few minutes but the bot can beca pain either dontvtalk to it or refuse offers of texts etc.. If you just need  to power a Sky Max hub it is correct they can be safely powered via the USB C connectiion.

Re: Broken sky max hub power cable

I called Sky and asked the question but they don't supply at all. Just told me to source one myself.

Re: Broken sky max hub power cable

@Jane1968 Why did you not Report the whole sky Max hub as faulty and not powering up, they would have then sent you a complete replacement!

If you wish to look at the broken PSU, give ALL the details that you see on it and the connection at the end off the cable i will look and see what will work, the important part is the output voltage and the output current, may be something like 12VD.C. current rating 2Amps!!!!!

If it is like 5VD.C. 2A and has a usb C type connection then a standard phone powersupply adapter will be very close to working and powering the hub!

Re: Broken sky max hub power cable

My call was initially about problems with my broadband.  I had a fault outside the house which they said they fixed but speed was slow, long story short they've booked an engineer visit for tomorrow. It was was whilst on this call I asked about sourcing a longer cable and that's when they told me they don't supply new cables at all never mind a longer one but said I could buy one myself from another retailer.
Thank you for the info regarding new cable. It is a usb c into the router with moulded plug on the end.  Guessing from you say I can use an Apple cable as long as I have the right adapter - have got that right??
My Sky Router is a white one which is about 5-6 years old

Re: Broken sky max hub power cable

@Jane1968 Just search for usb c extension cable on Amazon.... No to the adapter as i said just do not know what the power is on the sky PSU, you need to look at it and say, i dont have one so cannot look at one for you! Just because it has a USBC plug you cannot assume that it is a standard voltage for units.....

@JimM1 & @Jane1968 Sky have told us recently that new SR213 hubs no longer will have the USB C socket customers will have to use the power supply provided. Getting extention cables for low voltage power supplies is an absolute mine field as there is no standard for the barrel connecters or wiring. The normal workround is to use a mains extension  cable.
