If your new to Sky broadband and on ADSL (I'm not sure they'd even sell that to you nowadays) or on FTTC then a 10 day settling down period does apply whilst the system finds your fastest stable speed.

If on FTTP then no settling period is needed, so giving you a date to settle down by was nonsense I'm afraid.

If you're around the Glasgow area then there was a wide area external issue, the problem was resolved since just past midnight last night, so hopefully you're up and running again.
