Are Openreach totally incompetent?
So far 5 visits from various openreach 'engineers' all with different opinions and failed promises. The upshot, no upgrade to fibre, no messages from Sky on the open order. Now a week past switch over date given. Is it a competition for poor customer service between Sky and openreach? Both are great at texting you but it's a one way conversation!
Have any others experienced this ludicrous situation?

Re: Are Openreach totally incompetent?
@Mac19701 Where has you Fibre upgrade reached so far, working backwards, as
1. Has the internal been completed, new ONT installed.
2. Has a external CSP (grey Box) been mounted, normally close to the internal/external general area.
3. Has a Fibre been run from the CSP to the CBT, pole/underground does not matter which one!
4. Engineer from OR Fibre Install team has been talked to you to the why and what not reason!

Re: Are Openreach totally incompetent?
Hi,
1. Internal complete on third visit
2.no grey box outside, just coiled cable
3. No cable run from pole to house
4. The last engineer said they needed a bracket for the pole and would be back on Tuesday (originally Monday). Didn't show on Tuesday
not seen or heard anything since. Sky now shows as cancelled in my orders .
thanks for any help

Re: Are Openreach totally incompetent?
@Mac19701 The system is a couple off hours from complete then OR wise, cable slung from pole assuming CBT is not full and assigned sold out, you can see if spare are available if you look up at the top off the pole, cannot see why new bracket is needed, larger CBT whole loads off issues, CSP and Fibre fusion inside / outside 30 mins tops. Concerned why SKY have cancelled order, if OR are saying sorry cannot do then they may just be working scratching there heads to how, does happen!
Do you still have a copper BB working currently?

Re: Are Openreach totally incompetent?
In answer to your question: no, but they are currently working right at the limits of their capacity in order to get 85,000 new FTTP installations carried out every week between now and the end of 2026 to meet the national rollout timetable.

Re: Are Openreach totally incompetent?
Thanks @JimM1 ,
Apparently there are too many cables attached to the pole , hence the need for a bracket, according to Engineer #2, Engineer #1 said they needed more cable to span over 3 poles...who knows!
thankfully still have the copper intact and BB working, so just frustration more than anything else.
The inconvenience with ensuring someone is in etc. is a pain too.
looks like I just have to wait for the head scratching to come up with a solution! I think we've answered my original question, lol

Re: Are Openreach totally incompetent?
Appreciate the huge roll out @TimmyBGood and it's a good point .
think both Sky and Openreach just need to sort their communication and customers ability to contact them, rather than just having to guess when they'll return or at least returning the next day when they said they would.

That certainly can be an issue:

Re: Are Openreach totally incompetent?
Thanks @TimmyBGood , the picture in that article looks a familiar sight 😂. Hopefully the bracket solves my issue! Otherwise could be a lengthy wait for fibre
