Re: Apps running slowly
I've just moved to Sky and have had the same problem with my phone (Samsung S26) and my son reports issues with his iPhone.
Tried all the suggested fixes on here and nothing worked.
This morning I decided to try with my VPN on (Norton 360) and everything now seems to load fine with next to no lag.
Not sure why having a VPN on makes such a difference but it is working - for now. Will update if things change but would be interesting if this works for others and whether it helps identify the wider issue.

Also found that it seems to work normally if I switch my phone from randomised MAC to phone MAC.

Possibly due to using a different Sky node? I may be way off base there though.

On Samsungs that has been shown to help, on iPhones it's frequently the Private Relay that needs turning off or using a different browser than Safari when browsing.

Re: Apps running slowly
Same problem here mate, joined sky recently. Absolutely appauling app speeds,, tried an asus router and it was much faster.
They have to do something about this as that white sky max hub router is a pile of junk.
Have spoken with sky and they've told me that the only way i can get the upgraded router is if i go for the 2.5gb speed. Currently on the 1gb speed, hopefully if enough people complain they'll do something.

Re: Apps running slowly
I've purchased a new router and the difference is night and day. Issue was with Sky's router. Clearly not as good as BT, who I switched from.

Re: Apps running slowly
Yeah be interested to know how much it was and how easy it was to switch. I'm not very tech savvy so would like to know how to do this correctly and get it set up. Sky STILL haven't called me back and STILL haven't provided a solution to the issue 3 months later

Re: Apps running slowly
I'm even noticing this weekend, my stream puck/ps5 when I turn on initially it always saying no internet connection then after about 30 seconds it connects. It's no major issue but it's pretty annoying. Cant say I've been imoressed with sky broadband/sky max hub at all!!
also noticing on my iPhone this morning every 30 seconds or so it's briefing losing the WiFi connection, showing my 5G then comes back on again.

Re: Apps running slowly
I am still in the cooling off period and so am tempted to just run to BT as never had this problem with them. I feel that we shouldn't be spending more money again on getting new routers. We are paying for the use of their router.
We are not in an area that has full fibre and so we can't upgrade to that option.
This community is great and would be perfect if Sky would actually take note of what people are saying and act upon it!

Re: Apps running slowly
That all sounds impressive but I didn't understand a word 😂😂 - actually I got the gist of it . Can I ask is it easy to change the router and get it working? and if so, what make and model you suggest??

Re: Apps running slowly
@ON1993 same here!! The speeds that we are apparently getting seem better than we had with EE yet things are laggy (teenage son complaining daily about his laggy games on PC) the phones are the worst! I've turned off the relay thing on my phone but that's as tech savvy as I get. Do we go down the new router route?! 😂

Re: Apps running slowly
If you're sticking with sky I'd 100% get a new router. We got an ASUS one, cost around £100 but it's much better with signal so when we switch broadband next we will just use the new router anyway.
Was simple enough to set up after a quick Google

Re: Apps running slowly
I purchased a TP-LINK - Archer AXE75, also not techy and I'm sure someone will say I could have purchased a better one for the cost, but this is working for me. Probably best to do research as each home will be different. It took 5 minutes to set up, and was very easy. I'm receiving an £80 switch offer in the future for coming to Sky so it's a shame I had to spend it on the router but Sky is still cheaper than what BT would offer so still saving.

Re: Apps running slowly
Thank you.
I was looking at the TP-Link Archer AX55 AX3000 or the B230. I just don't want to deal with the hassle of returns if they don't work, and yes, spending an additional £80 that I shouldn't have to is a kick in the teeth 😞
