Android Wifi Ipv6 problem
I'm a little concerned that I cannot find anyone else with this problem but here we are. I have 3 android phones and an Ipad in my household. The ipad works fine, but all the android devices have the same issue. Anything html based embedded inside apps or just using web browsers works. However, any app that is (I presume) using another port, will not load . For example MySky, Whatsapp, BBC News, none of them work, they time out with a network error after 5-10mins. Or sometimes as with the MySky app, it loads the cookie rejection note after 10mins, then 10 mins later loads the homepage
Now I did find a solution, if I disable ipv6 on the router, all my android devices work normally. However I'd rather keep ipv6 on for other networking reasons. There is also no way to force ipv4 mode on android devices anymore. To me it looks very much like a port issue, what with http(80) stuff working fine but nothing else working. I did look at the port forwarding stuff on the router but I know nothing about ipv6 and wouldn't know where to begin with all the different inputs.
I should probably also mention I was able to try my android devices on 3 different sky hubs but all with the same problem. I also found an article from a few years back about google not liking how companies were implementing ipv6 by just bolting it ontop of ipv4 instead of from the ground up.
Has anyone else had this issue and/or found a solution that doesn't involve turning ipv6 off?

Re: Android Wifi Ipv6 problem
@DCrilly there is an issue thst pops up occasionally where some Android apps do not work normally. It is something Sky and Google are trying to solve but it appears to be a clash between the software the server node managing your connection is running. On occasions powering down the hub can switch the node you are using to one which will work - turning IP6 on or off can do that as well. You are correct that IP6 should be used.
If the issue continues call Sky and report it so the network team can apply a patch.
