Access to my Sky Router when a third party router is also attached.
I didn't find the WiFi was very good on my Sky Router so i purchased and installed a Google Nest Router and point, which improved my WiFi network in the house so much that i switched off the WiFi on the Sky Router altogether. The only drawback, if it is a drawback (and this is not because i switched off the Sky WiFi), is that if I need to make any changes to any settings in my Sky router then how can i access the router settings to make them because it's as if the Google Router is now the Primary gateway, if that makes sense?? 🙂

Connect a device via ethernet directly to the Sky hub

Re: Access to my Sky Router when a third party router is also attached.
Hi, i don't think i explained it very well. The Google Nest router is connected to my Sky router with an ethernet cable but now i can't access my Sky Router although that is still the Gateway as such. I used to access the router before but now i've attached the google one to it it wont let me in?

I'd imagine the DHCP server in the Google router is issuing IP addresses which are outside the range that can access the Sky Hub.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Connecting a device directly to the Sky hub via ethernet should bypass any Google interface or other DHCP range its issuing. Does this not work for you?

Re: Access to my Sky Router when a third party router is also attached.
Hi James. it doesn't seem to. I have tried using the Sky router IP address but can't access at all (pre google router days i used to go in quite often in fact so often i bookmarked the address but now using that bookmark it wont let me in), and i can only access the Google router via the Google Home app on my phone and all that really shows me is how many devices are connected and I think that only refers to WiFi devices, do you know what i mean?

What IP address does your device get when you turn WiFi off & connect via ethernet to the Sky hub?

Re: Access to my Sky Router when a third party router is also attached.
Hi, i wonder if the reason i can't access the Sky Router is because i have turned off it's WiFi? Just in case you're wondering why i did turn it off it's because the Sky Router stsrted to behave very oddly and the lights stsrted flashing green and it was very annoying so for peace i turned it off and to be honest the Google Nest has been fantastic, i'm getting on average 120Mbps throughout the house.

Re: Access to my Sky Router when a third party router is also attached.
If your connecting to the Sky hub via ethernet to try and access the web interface then having WiFi switched off is irrelevant

Re: Access to my Sky Router when a third party router is also attached.
I have a similar set up but using Asus XT9s. The XT9s are in Access Point (AP) mode so the hub assigns all the IP addresses.
1000/115 FTTP (Aquiss) to Zyxel DX3301
3 x Asus XT9s + 2 x RT-AC58U V3 for WiFi (AP mode)
65" Samsung S92C OLED TV
C430 Samsung soundbar with subwoofer
6 other streaming TVs
43+ network connected devices

Re: Access to my Sky Router when a third party router is also attached.
57Mick... do you know the operation mode/setup of your Google Nest?
I think for what you want to do, you need to have the Google Nest set up in either Access Point mode (AP) or bridge mode.
This basically means that the Google Nest will be doing the work of sharing your WiFi signal and creating a network, but Sky hub will be doing the work of assigning IP addresses to everything that is connected. The IP address you used to access the Sky hub and its functions should be the same as you used before.
This is how I have my set up. My Asus XT9s (your Google Nest) has been set up to operated in AP mode.
