500mbps is worse for my PC than when I had 67mbps

Hi, I have had sky for a few months now and it has not been that fantastic. I was previously on 67mbps with talktalk, and upgraded to 500mbps with Sky. However, I have seen absolutely no difference in speeds to my PC. It is upstairs but that shouldn't be a factor when I had the same speeds with Talktalk. The wifi also struggles massively when both my PC and my fathers PC are on at the same time; an issue I did not have with talktalk. Again, despite having 67mbps with talktalk, it still handled my household devices without issue compared to Sky.

Is there something I can purchase to better this issue or do I need to contact Skys helpline directly, as I am really not happy that I am paying more for faster internet and yet getting the same speeds as I did previously.

My speed is 500mbps when I am right next to the router, so it is above guaranteed, but the signal strength is just appalling anywhere other than the same room in the house!!

I am not understanding your logic behind this statement at all. Just because you increased your line speed by moving to Sky ultrafast it does not specifically improve the WiFi environment in your home or the WiFi card in your PC. If that is the speed in which the PC can achieve at that range from the hub then you could upgrade to a 1,000,000mbps and you wouldnt get any faster speeds to your PC if you continued to use WiFi from a basic domestic ISPs router.

As you already said, you can achieve the 500mbps when you are next to the router which proves that you are getting the correct line speed & there isnt anything fundamentally wrong with the router or its WiFi radios. Therefore you have a few options;

- Get Sky WiFi Max which allows you to claim WiFi pods to increase your coverage

- Use ethernet or powerline to compatible devices

- Purchase a 3rd party router/mesh solution.
