3rd party alternatives to Sky Wifi 6 Hub-
I wish to move from Sky Q to Sky Stream. I have researched the two hubs/routers available from Sky- apparently the older version only has two ports but a better wifi distribution- The latest version has 4 ports but has absolutely appaling wifi connectivity. I will be switching from Virginmedia Business Broadband
The connections for broadband are located in a cupboard where my existin Virgin Hub is located and I would want to be able to extend these ( ethernet and telephone) so as to allow the replacement router to be located in an external position in the centre of a large house.
I would welcome responses from Sky or any others with technical knowledge- Sky told me that their updated router has 6 ports but I think this information is incorrect. I would ideally like 6 ports. Thank you to all who can help.
Any comments on Sky's fastest speed and its genuine claim would be greatly appreciated.

The 2016 Q Hub is obsolete and all remaining units are being swapped out this year

The 2019 Sky Broadband Hub is generally regarded quite well: the 2023 Max Hub appears to be problematic in some households, but it's in the nature of support forums to attract negative comments rather than satisfied users.

The location of Virgin hardware isn't necessarily related to where an Openreach connection would arrive.

4 ethernet ports is standard: I'm not aware of any ISP which offers a 6 ethernet router. Ethernet ports can always be multiplied by adding an ethernet switch.
