how to get new sky hub

I have super broadband and old Sky Q hub with a booster. Wifi coverage was average but now it has been worse over lockdown.I have tried various settings on router without any success. Also checked on net and tried various suggestions with out any improvement. How can I get new Sky hub?  When I renewed my super broadband contract last year they did not offer me new Sky hub.

Then you'll know the answer: Q Hubs aren't being swapped out for free just because there's a more recent model.

Re: how to get new sky hub

Sorry for late response, I understand you  and everyone on the forum are being helpful but I did not expect such a response to my question. Where did I ask for free?.

As I understand nothing is free from Sky, all the equipments are on lease or rent for the contract period. I have  Sky Superfast via FTTC and  my router is Sky Q ER110 supplied over four and half years ago. A booster was also set at the same time and had reasonable Wifi signals but over theperiod of time signals dropped and now connection between router and Q box 2TB and Q box minis breaks down randomly, The wifi coverage is poor through out the house. Over the years while renewing the contracts I mentioned about poor wifi signals. I tried various tricks on the net to improve wifi signals without any success.

I felt that a new router may help, hence I tried TP Link Archer 2100 modem/router. The wifi signals improved but   could not connect Sky Q box and minis to the Archer 2100, the Q box and Q minis did not connect to each other again tried various hints and tips from the net with out any success..

Will latest Sky W Hub improve wifi  coverage and stop the problem of  disconnecting  the Q box and Q minis? I feel that provision of satisfactory service is part of the contract and periodic upgrade of old equipment  should be undertaken to maintain this. Thanks

You can, of course, express that feeling to Sky: it's just that currently they will probably choose to disagree with you.

One option might be for you to persue this strictly as a Sky Q issue without reference to any other WiFi problems you may be experiencing: Sky are obliged to try and remedy Q unreliability.

Re: how to get new sky hub

@G404  There are other folks in the forum who have TP Link kit and perhaps they can shed specific TP link config details that worked for them. But, there is certainly plenty of discussion more widely that the Skyq wifi used on the q and min infrastructure causes problems with 3rd party wireless network in the house. So, one of the things you could try is disabling 5G wireless on your TP Link and seeing if that sorts out the q and wifi 5g connectivity issues (q uses 5g for that connectivity). Also are you able to try hardwiring thq q and minis to check if the same problem exists ?

Or perhaps you could add your post to this forum which has some Sky employees leaning in which might help with your sky router connectivity issues.

@CyberFriday

Disabling 5 Ghz did not help and using cable between router and Q box is unpractical due to physical restains. still no luck with connection between TP link 2100 and Sky Q box and minis over Wifi.

Re: how to get new sky hub

@G404  With the Tplink option have you tried using 2.4 to link the q box to the router and leaving the 5g on the q box for its mesh connection with the minis ? And also disable the 5g on the to link. And I presume that when you are using the to link you don't have the sky router in use.

@CyberFriday

I tried this one as well, Sky router was not connected, TP Link 2100 did not connect to Sky Q box.

@G404  Looks like @Skull+Treaty  is a tp link vr2100 owner. Perhaps they can shed some light on your connectivity issues.

@G404

My Sky Q has a wired connection via an Ethernet network switch. If I remove this and perform a network reset on the Sky Q, it's sees my VR2100 - I don't have a mini in use.
