Why can’t I use a vpn to connect to my sky go when I am in Europe

I am on holiday in Spain 

I am using a vpn to connect to BBC i player 

I cannot connect to my sky go using vpns

why are Sky doing this

bbc I player is fine

The Sky Go app will detect when a VPN is being used because if you are based in the UK (and not Ireland) then you can not use the app in Europe for rights reasons.

And the BBC should be blocking your connection as well. Using a VPN does not legitimise such activity.
