I am a returning Sky customer and called up earlier in the week to ask about Sky Stream. They signed me up on a 31 day rolling contract and threw in some discounts as well. I got the Sky Stream Puck the very next day, plugged it in and set it up and all has been well so far.
A couple of minor glitches (glitchy stream on 1 channel which was fixed by changing channel and Playlist went missing once which was fixed by a reboot) but all has gone well so far. I have it to mostly watch F1 and every session this weekend so far has been available in the playlist tagged as recorded.

@ian2512 wrote:Just to confirm if you are in contract with SKY for SKY Q you will be transferred to a 31 day rolling contract. I had 15 months left of my SKY Q contract and have been switched to a rolling contract. I like this as can now leave when I want sooner or later do to money issues. So one month of painfor me equals SKY subs being cancelled quicker then if i remained on Q
Just for completeness, people are being migrated to rolling contracts because the 18-month contract offers don't launch until the official launch date.
It's great for people who don't want to be tied down, especially those who were looking to end their contracts... but from a business perspective, I would be quite alarmed if I was an exec... the more people who are changed from contract to rolling is very risky in business terms.
To publish that 18-month terms will be available, and allow everybody to leave existing contracts in the interim, would be viewed as suicidal in other businesses due to the loss of control and guaranteed/fixed-term revenue. Fascinating to see how this plays out.

A business like Sky needs the security of long-term contracts for their shareholders etc. Of course there is a market for no contracts but the business needs security and that will rapidly dissipate with each customer they allow to migrate from existing minimum term to rolling.
If they allowed 5 million people to take the product during this pre-launch period, and all 5 million people were mid-contract - let's say 6-12 months remaining - and those people decided to stop paying in 31 days time, there would quickly be no Sky left.
I find it quite remarkable that they're allowing current contracted customers to leave their contract so easily instead of advising them to call back on release date. Moving from one to the other should be no problem but stopping contracts in the way they are doing is risky business.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@d2h given Sky are by far the largest pay TV supplier in the UK and they are already running a major competitor in Now TV I suspect they are fairly relaxed.
Stream potentially shows them significant orgainsational savings against satellite which requires installation engineers etc so encouraging migration from satellite to Stream is not really a bad thing from their point of view. Losing a few customers along the way is not that worrying.

I was in a Q contract I switched via the My Sky app seamless and easy. Just checked my Sky app and my account correctly updated so happy with that. Just waiting on the boxes from Sky to return the Q equipment. Anybody returning Q remember take photos of everything boxed and keep your post office receipts for some months after returning as Sky have a habit of charging for no returns weeks after in error!

OK, I've just done the same.
One puck ordered. £20. Should be delivered Monday.
31 day rolling contract, ending my Q contract 9 months early.
I was offered an 18 month contract on Stream so they do seem to be available now if you want to sign up for longer. There was no requirement to switch to it when coming out of the Q contract.

@Anonymous
I've looked around MySky app and couldn't find the option to switch over to Sky Stream 😞

Ah sorry my fault I replaced the bedroom TV with Glass and a living room Puck. So I guess it was Glass not Stream in the app. Sorry for confusion.

Got sky stream on Wednesday. But will return to satellite on zMonday.
I finally got subtitles working and AD.
For 2160p resolution most of the colour is gone IF also in HDR. and us very dim but still sharp. Channels nit in HDR have same colour settings as your TV.
In order to get colour working properly on HDR channels I had to revert back to 1080p resolution with default streaming set to UHD.
HDR channels can be viewed with thus setup..You can tell the difference with colour being stronger and slightly darker contrast but still very sharp.
Seems incredible that the internet can deliver this so well.
Going forward I will have stream later rather than glass. Glass is not practical. Stream us far better because you can have it on your own TV that may be a far better spec than the Hisdbse manufactured Sky Glass TVs which are not practical in many cases
A thumbs up for the service but at a later date for me. Still prefer satellite as that is what I am used to.
You will also notice that HDMI output namesSky+HD gives auto name of Sky+HD.
Stream just gives default name as just 'Sky'. So looks like this will eventually be the ONKY service they offer in the end plus Sky Go. But the big let down on this is the number of channels missing from the platform.
I will only come back to Stream once satellite has been switched off. Otherwise I will always have less choice with stream.
In general yes I give it a thumbs up and well done. But it is not for me just yet.
Hope this has been helpful to you.

What package was that on?
I have everything except Kids and Sport for £54 at present (TV only no broadband).
Called on Thursday to be offered equivalent for £65.
Called today to be told that it's not available yet until the 18th October, but would be £60.
Checked out Glass and it looks as if Glass on equivalent would be £51 a month.

Out of interest, what TV do you have and what's the peak brightness?

@fizzdisco Did they not offer you any extra incentive to sign up for 18 months? Quite why anybody would be wanting to sign up for 18 months with zero incentive is a mystery to me.
I'll wait until the 18th to see how the land lies.
But fair play to you and others who have managed to terminate long-term contracts with zero questions asked. I still don't think they thought this one through properly...
