Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
I haven't had a chance to call them yet but give live chat a go earlier to see if I could get a Stream package however was told that I'd need to wait until the 18th and pre-orders would start on the 15th.
I asked them for a number for the sales team but they wouldn't give me one and proceeded to try and sign me up to a Sky Q package which wasn't at all helpful.
Does anyone have a number for the sales team at all? It doesn't seem to be very clearly advertised on the Sky site unless I'm missing the obvious? I did find a number through the help section but this seemed more for existing customers as it said it couldn't find an account with the number I called from.
I guess the 15th isn't too far away so maybe I'll just wait...

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
@Stormedwhen you call and it asks what you are calling about just say "sky stream" ..then it will give you several options, number 1 is to place an order so just say "place an order". Got me straight through to a very helpful sales guy and we were done and dusted in about 10mins.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
To contact the correct team you can phone customer service and follow the prompts.
At the prompt where it asks why you are calling say'kjy Glass'
About Sky Glass is that right? is then heard
You then say 'Yes'.
Then it goes through 4 options. After that say 'Its something else'yhennuou confirm you are account holder then give password.
You are then in the correct queue
Hope that helps.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
This has been a very active and interesting thread. Clearly, the thread title means that most people posting presumably already have a dish in place. Surely the point of Sky Stream is to appeal to people who, for whatever reason, can't (or won't) have a dish installed. There must be a huge untapped market out there for an alternative way of delivering content. And for many younger people, the whole "lack of a hard drive" debate is irrelevant, as they are already used to streaming as the primary way of watching TV.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
Streaming is fine for most TV which is made available on demand.
But a hard drive is a necessity if you want to watch something that doesn't appear on demand, such as the US PGA tour golf.
It would cost pennies to put a disk in a puck.

It doesn't really matter what you're coming from, whether it be Freeview, Sky+, Sky Q, Virgin, BT TV or nothing. The point is, the hardware isn't good & the software is still glitchy after nearly a year.
Yes, it'll appeal to a lot of people but it's still a mediocre product being used to sell & distribute a premium priced service.
I'm just grateful that it's allowed me to give less of my money to Sky & more of it to other (better) providers.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
Sky sports.
Quite often it's a seven hour broadcast from 5pm until midnight, so I'd record it and watch the last two or three hours, which is about 90 minutes without adverts and other guff, the next morning.

@Ed.B. I think if it's on Sky Sports you can use the cloud recording facility on Glass or Stream so you can watch it when you want.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
Absolutely. None of the live sport is on demand. The most annoying thing about Stream is it is not flexible as you cannot record on it.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?
So I'm led to believe, which is why I was excited to hear about sky stream. But AFAIUI you can't watch a 'cloud recording' until the show has finished broadcasting.
I'll probably try it, but given the proximity to black Friday will wait to see if they do any decent offers rather than pay £43 a month which was the price offered today.

@Ed.B. I haven't got Glass or Stream but I thought that if you want to watch something that's still being broadcast, you can use the "watch from the start" function and then skip forward to wherever you want.

If I order two pucks, do they talk to another in any way?
