TPLink VR2800 and Sky Ultrafast FTTP config

Hi,

Have recently upgraded from Sky Superfast FTTC to Ultrafast FTTP.. Previously I used my trusty TPLink VR2800 with the superfast- much better features and more reliable that the sky hub.. I've now got the ONT and sky router 203 for FTTP and hate the router.. it's so crippled and locked down (no QOS and other features)- can anyone give me the config settings for the sky FTTP as I've tried with no joy.

I've set the VR2800 into router only mode and tried configuring it without joy.. Any help would be greatfully received as pulling hair out currently

Thanks!

You may have found that the dhcp option 61 has disappeared. The only way of authenticating is via dhcpv6 pd or get another router

Can you screengrab your wan and lan screens and post.

To authenticate via prefix delegation :-

Select the WAN interface section of router GUI, then select dual-stack option WAN interface for IPv4 & IPv6, for the address select DHCPv6 (dynamic option not static), enable prefix delegation (PD) on WAN and then select SLACC for IPv6 creation method on LAN interface

I can't see any reference to slaac/stateless on the lan which is the requirement for address creation on lan to be pushed out to the wan for authentication

Re: TPLink VR2800 and Sky Ultrafast FTTP config

It just has a drop down box under "default gateway" saying Current Connection.. I'm having to switch between routers currently and there never seems to be a time where the internet is not in use in this house!!

Again, the same question as @Skull+Treaty @cookiemonsteruk what options are under the default gateway dropdown list? And the VLAN as you have said @cookiemonsteruk is unset for FTTP.

There's no known way of getting Sky Talk over VOIP from anything other than a Sky Hub: the required configuration has not been published by Sky or extrapolated by anyone else.

Re: TPLink VR2800 and Sky Ultrafast FTTP config

Can the sky hub be run in a mode to turn off everything bar the sky talk and then bridge to my Vr2800? the phone would be handy, and would save us having to contact loads of people to say we've changed number etc  🙂

Sadly not, Sky Hubs do not offer a bridge or modem only mode.

As already mentioned you cant use Sky Talk on any other router than Sky's so if you wish to use your own router you'll need to keep the Sky router in play or abandon your use of a landline
