Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
Hey @Frel
I'm also struggling with setup on TP Link Archer AX50 but have gone in via browser and still can't work out where you're putting in the sky username/password - I'm not seeing any Sky/VDSL MER 61 options or anything - I can do a 'custom' ISP but don't know the Sky Internet VLAN etc. - presuming this router isn't going to support sky fibre but just thought I'd ask if you could share your exact settings/screenshot or something to help me out?!
Cheers.

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
I simply ran through the setup wizard via the internet PC based interface, which had a specific option of Sky (MER). After choosing this it requested the username and password.
Given that you're looking at a different model (which appears to be a router only rather than a combined router modem?) I'm afraid I probably can't help much.

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
Hi, has anyone found a fix for this? I've just purchased a VR2800 and cannot get it to connect? After the set up, it Gail's to connect to the Internet?

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
Hello,
Is anyone able to confirm that the VR2800 (once connected to Sky Fibre Broadband) will connect to the Sky Q main box? I can get it connected to the internet (following this useful guide How To Use A TP-Link Router With Sky Fibre Optic (kevq.uk)) so that I can connect devices to the WiFi and ethernet to my Mac; however the Sky Q refuses to connect to it via WiFi or ethernet.
My main telephone point to the house is on the first floor so not sure if this makes a difference when trying to connect via ethernet using the phone socket in the living room downstairs?
The Sky Q did connect once to the VR2800 (2.4GHz only, couldn't see an option for 5GHz); however none of the on demand features were working, so when I attempted it again it now does not detect any WiFi at all (2.4GHz or 5GHz).
I had to go back to using the Sky Broadband hub which connects no problem over WiFi.
I have considered getting some TP Link AV1300 Powerline Adapters to see if the VR2800 will work from the main phone line point (over Powerline) to the Sky Q hub.
Is this just Sky being difficult or more likely user error?
Appreciate any help you can give on this and if anyone else has experienced the same.

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
So I am in Ireland, have the Sky Ultra over Siro fibre, delivering 1Gbps up and down. I was experiencing the same issues as many with very frequent drop outs on each of the two miniboxes, which to be honest was driving me crazy. I went through the process of adding boosters without success. My other half uses the connection during the week to work from home and between Sky and her laptop, nothing else was on that network. I started to question the Sky hub after my other half started seeing the connection drop without explanation.
So I decided to change out the Hub for a router to confirm this was the problem. I picked up a VR2800 from Curry's and the configuration was not that difficult. I chose the "Wireles router mode", adding VLAN 10 and the credential that others have provided over PPPoe. Connectivity came up straight away. Since the change I have had very steady connectivity to the Sky Mini's across the house with the need for boosters. My only issue has been that the maximum speed, tested at the router, shows 480Mbps as a maximum download. Now this is not a major issue due to usage being light, but that is half of the expected. This only occurs through the VR2800 and when through the Sky Hub the speed sits at 1Gbps. Has anyone else experienced this or knows of a configuration that will relaise the full speed? I am sure it is something very simple, but at least I have proved the connectivity is definitely down to the Sky Hub in terms of drop outs!!

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
Did you ever get the AX50 working? I don't have an option for Sky MER, I just see Singapore-Singtel, Malaysia-Unifi etc.

I would have thought that suggests an incorrect region setting.

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
That was my first thought. I double checked the box and it's the EU model, bought from Argos. The rouble is you don't have access to the ISP settings in the UI, only the setup wizard. So if I go through the wizard and into the UI I lose the ability to select ISP profiles (I believe).

TP-Link AX50? I understand that is a router, rather than a modem router. Are you looking to use that device in place of the Sky Hub, if so you'll need a separate modem

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
My mistake. I have fibre to my house, with an Openreach modem inside. I'd assumed the AX50 would be enough.
For now I just have the sky hub as a modem and I'm using the AX50 to serve the house. Double NATing I know...

Re: TP-Link VR2800 fibre setup issues
@DarrylUK if you have an Openreach ONT unit there is a good chance thst your router will connect without any log in as explained in this post.
Let us know how you get on.
