Super Rugby Pacific 2022

I was looking at the Super Rugby Pacific 2022 Fixtures and on 18th February Moana Pasifika are playing the Blues. There is a Button for "Where To Watch". I pressed it and there was a list of Broadcasters around the world listed that would be showing this match. Stan Sports and the usual Southern Hemisphere Broadcasters were listed. FloSports and half a dozen others covering a large area of the world were also there.

But the last Broadcaster mentioned was SKY SPORTS covering the UK. As this is from a 2022 fixture and looks different to last year does this mean that SKY will be covering Super Rugby Pacific? Should do after the many years of coverage it used to do until last year.

Does anyone out there know if SKY are covering Super Rugby Pacific???

Well, I got a reply from SKY Viewer Relations. But it was as much use as a chocolate fireguard. I cannot believe that a well run compoany can not find out if they have live Rugby Scheduled in 3.5 weeks time. They must know that they have or have not got the rights to the Super Rugby. Just too lazy, not allowed or incapable of finding out.

The amusing bit is that they say "schedule ANY rugby Union in the Future". The Lions Tour might be the last Rugby Union that SKY ever show. Does anyone know what Rugby they will be showing in the future? From a strong Rugby Union broadcaster to a company that doesn't show it. But they still say they show Rugby Union as part of their advertising about SKY Sports. Is that allowed if they don't show any?

That is a useless response from them. I've read the same msg from super rugby Pacifica. As a lot of the NZ kick offs are early morning UK time it would be great if we can get it back on sky so it'll be recorded

From Australian website......

Super Rugby 15 live on Sky Sports, with at least two live matches being broadcast from each round of the competition. The competition features teams from the Southern Hemisphere (Australia, New Zealand and South Africa), so most broadcasts are shown on Sky Sports in the early mornings. Most games can be seen on Sky Sports 3/HD, with some games being available on the Sky Sports Red Button. If you live outside of the UK, you can stream the Super Rugby 15 with Now TV, which is a 24 hour pass allowing you to stream all Sky Sports channels online

I am not sure whether they mean the super Pacific competition but that is what is on the rugby austrailia website

When Sky last signed long-term with Sanzaar in 2016, the deal included all the club & provincial games until 2021, but the main prize for Sky was undoubtedly the international summer tours.

Last year a TV deal for the Rugby Championship was only announced 24 hours before it started, while the club games were relegated to a one-off online-only arrangement via Rugbypass.

I suspect Sky's main interest will be in showing the summer tours and/or Rugby Championship, the club games might just be a Brucie-bonus but they won't bust a gut to get those alone. I'd love to be proven wrong, and/or see Sky (or BT Sport) get a deal for all the internationals and bundle these in.

As for the viewer relations inbox, they'll only have a briefing note to go on - rights decisions are made several pay grades higher...

Are you broadcasting Super Rugby Pacifica 2022. I sincerely hope so as last year was hopeless with the other broadcaster. You couldn't record it and watch when you can and your coverage is excellent.

Did you hear anything back from sky yet? Last year it was RugbyPass that had it & it wasn't very good.

I have heard nothing since my update of 10th Jan where SKY basically said we don't know but keep looking at Sky Sports Rugby Union and if we are doing anything it will show there.
