Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

@WelshPaul

Only cost me £25. I've been with Sky for around 25 years apart from a break of around a year. But still had Sky mobile and broadband, so kept my VIP status. Don't know if that made any difference.

Over the years, I've always had good deals from them. I kinda treat customer services as one of my mates, having a cheeky, humorous chat with them.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Really hope get to grips with this as even though you will see a lot of issues on a forum it's clearly not a very small amount of remotes either.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

It has been a few days now since my remote returned to life. Touch wood and all that but I haven't had a problem since. I also now have a spare in the drawer in case of future problems!

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

I posted here earlier about my sky remote not working, then working, then not working again...

Luckily it HAS the voice function working but that's about it!!!

SKY need to pull their finger out on this one and just issue remotes that work...

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

My Sky stream remote packed up after 1 day, getting a new one sent out.

As I have switched from Sky Q, I easily set up Sky Q remote and  functions work on Streambox, TV and Soundbar.

The Q remote seems more robust and tactile to use.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

I thought I'd escaped the remote issue, but no, became completely unresponsive last night just before sitting down for evenings tv viewing, started watching "the preipheral" .. it's very good. Anyway completely unresponsive didn't come back to life ... So had to switch over to TVs native apps.

As going to bed thought I'd give it another go , tried resetting it , changed batteries etc, no such luck. Tried unplugging puck to see if that would kick start it , it didn't , as that had a wobble too and wouldn't get past the splash screen and just switched its self off.

I pre-emptied it still not working, when I go downstairs shortly , and ordered another remote off Amazon last night, which is coming later today. I know I shouldn't have had too, but Id rather call Sky later knowing I had one already on its way as back up.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Just lately my remote is becoming unresponsive. The remote still lights up, but stops responding to button presses.

It's never done this in the last 12 months of ownership!!!

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

.. yep still dead , puck is good though 👍 turned on fine, via button on the bottom of the puck, actually quite fast , I wonder whether it was all mid download/updated last night , anyway I can't check as remote not working lol. Hopefully no issues when the replacement turns up later 👍

hey @Jayboy1990  after 12 months of use hopefully it's just a battery change over for you !

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

No, for me it's happened only since a recent update. It's a lock up that I get.

It's supposedly being investigated.

@Jayboy1990

Very interesting yours sounds like a firmware issue where as some others sounds like a hardware issue.

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Now here's a thing. For the past 24 hours my Stream puck & remote has been behaving, dare I say, normally

No battery change, no firmware updates (still on QS011), no change in connection, nothing. It's working better than it ever has done.

I was working late last night and came in at about 10pm - turned the puck on and it sprang to life in less than 5 seconds. Navigation round the home screen seemed a little faster than before. All controls on the remote worked fine, including volume to the TV/amp.

I spent a couple of hours watching some things on various sources, all of which played fine. I pushed it by selecting lots of different apps, playing a bit of content in 4K/HDR, pressing home, selecting a different app, playing something else for 5mins, pressing home, selecting another app, playing something else, etc but experienced none of the juddering, lip-sync loss or blank screen that I'd had before when doing the same.

The remote too coped fine - I fast forwarded through some YouTube clips with ease, rewound, etc. All problem free.

Anyway, I put the puck into standby overnight, turned it back on this morning and it's doing exactly the same. Everything seems 'normal' - quick to power on, no more low battery warnings, less clunky navigation and a pretty smooth experience.

What this suggests to me is that lots of 'stuff' has possibly been going on in the background with the puck & remote. Maybe it's been downloading updated firmware & apps (ITVX?) in the background and can't quite cope when someone's actually using the device for what it's intended for at the same time. Presumably firmware updates for the remote are downloaded to the puck's minimal internal flash storage and then pushed over WiFi to the remote itself? This is bound to take some processing power and be something that could affect the functionality of the remote whilst it's being used.

I have the puck's network settings in standby turned off so that it's not always connected. Maybe these updates (which perhaps are done for some people overnight when it's not in use) are trying to be done whilst I've been using the puck, hence causing the sluggishness. Now that all the updates are presumably done, it's finally decided to act a little more like a device from the 2020's rather than a shonky, underpowered brick from the noughties.

So there we have it. My musings for now are done. Let's see if this new found Stream puck sprightliness continues...

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

Phoned Sky earlier on to request my 2nd replacement remote so will see what happens when that turns up.

My 1st replacement was supposed to getting delivered today by DPD/DHL but based on the tracking info it doesn't look as if it's even left the hub in Birmingham yet so potentially another day of non existent viewing

Sky Q 2TB V3, 3 x Mini’s, Samsung 65” QLED TV, Sonos Beam, Sky Ultrafast Plus FTTP, 1 account for Sky Q & 1 for Broadband!

Re: Stream remote completely unresponsive

As I've said in a previouse post, my remote has worked from day 1, when I got it in early October.

I did think at first, it wasn't working, as when I pressed the power button, nothing happened, so continued to keep pressing it. What I didn't realise at the time that I was infact switching it on and off as, once pressed it can take around 5 seconds or so to turn the Stream on. I'm quite used to it now and after one press, leave it to do it's own thing.

I realise that people are having different problems in this thread, but wondered if some are doing the same as me (switching it on and off without realising it). The backlight only works, on mine btw when it's in low light coditions.

The code on my remote if anyone is interested is: LC103-ant

then on the second line RSRD482151 MP-100.2

and it's firmwere version 5103.3.4
