Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

It's opposite the router, less than 8' away in the same room!

Looking through other posts here about the download/ subscription/ item unavailable issues, I'm not the only one whose box is losing internet connection, which is why I mentioned it on this thread. it's likely part of the same problem. We definitely didn't have this connection difficulty with our old HD+ box, whch wouldn't work with Q anyway.

This is a Sky problem, either with the box or the signal. After the 3 and a half hour trauma we went through to upgrade a week ago last Sunday, I'm not sure I'm up to doing battle with Sky's Unhelpful Desk again today. I haven't recovered from last time yet!

Can I join the club? I'm also having issues, can't download the new sex and the city, but channel 4 instant download. This is very irritating, especially when you're paying through the nose for a sub standard service. Sort it out sky or I will be terminating my contract with reason being not fit for purpose.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

We have had this problem numerous times with sky q very frustrated. We have A :3 storey house so we end up running up and down to connect the boxes. They changed our box as it kept loosing connectivity and thus was also to a BY Halo. We have a booster for our Bt in the 2nd floor and they  said this was causing problems!
After months of having the engineer back and forward it seems to have sorted the problems (fingers crossed).

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Michelle2904 What was the eventual successfully fixed diagnosis? What did they do?

We have BT Halo too, and a Sky Q upgrade that was installed by one of their engineers on Monday afternoon.

It's been jumping offline every 12 hours or so, requiring me to re-enter our horribly long BT password to get the Q box back online again.

Am not up to rowing with Sky again today, but wld love to know how to fix this!

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Discombobulated3 I used to have the same issue, although not quite every 12 hours, maybe every couple of days.

Box is also in the same room as the router, probably 6-8ft away.

I agree it's ridiculous having to type in that long password each time with the Sky remote.

In the end I got so fed up, I just hardwired the box direct to the router, never had a problem since, right up until this time last week when the download issue reared it's head.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

Same here, downloads series links fine i.e. when watching a programme it downloads the next automatically but anything new it just says Download Failed Item Unavailable on (I think) every channel including Sky's own channels and terrestrial.

@Discombobulated3

Hi.
do you have one of the booster dishes from BT as well? It seemed for us the boxes were trying to connect via the disc instead of syncing to the main box.
They also changed the settings on one of my mini boxes as the they were connecting differently eg: one was 2.4ghz ghd others 5.

I am not sure what they done but fingers crossed we haven't had to reconnect for a week now.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

I have a BT mesh set up with 4 dishes all work fine with everything including Sky until recently, it can't be the box connecting to the wrong source with me as all downloads work fine for series linked programmes, the issue seems to be any 'new' downloads.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Goooner1  Thanks 🙂 Great that it you found a workable solution.

However, I don't see why any of us should need to change our original set-ups purely because the company we all pay significant amount of money to each month for a non-100%-working sercice can't get their freaking act together, is all.

Grumble mutter grumble swear as next ep of an-eventually-downloaded-ep1 fails to go on to ep2 due to download failure. AGAIN!!!!.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Discombobulated3 @ Oh, don't get me wrong, I totally agreee with you, we shouldn't have to jump through hoops to find our own workable solutions to Sky issues, Sky that we all pay a lot of money for.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

I think you're missing something here; if it were just BT Broadband users with the problem and it happened with every download, then yes, you may be right.

however, there are posts from people with broadband services other than BT who are having the same problems, so that seems to hint it's not BT's issue.

Added to that, only Sky channels seem to be affected, not 'terrestrial' channels; I would have thought that all channels would be affected if it were BT's issue...

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@GazBags I agree with all you say except the bit about it being only Sky as C5 also has the same issue, today at least
