Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@BayBen Am having to manually reconnect our Q box to internet at least every 12 hours currently, internet is fine, is box that keeps coming offline for no apparent reason.

This is a new issue in addition to the subscription, unavailable, and failed downloads issues.

Is it even worth the time spent trying to get through to someone at Sky who a) is helpful , b) has 2 working brain cells,  c) recognises this is an ongoing massive issue, and  d) can actually do anything constructive about it?

Je désespère.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Discombobulated3  Is this after setting the SKY settings to mnaul to set the DNS?

It mabe caused as you staticly setting the IP and its losing the lease . Try setting it back to auto and rebooting the sky box. If it works go onto your router and set the sky box to a static IP and then put the SKY back to mnaul. ALos if you have repeaters they might be causing it.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@SS123456xThanks for the response, but I have no idea what any of that means! Q box was installed on Monday. Failed download issues continued, then Tues morning at 9, after partner had watched Sky before going to work at 6.30, box message said it had no internet connection, had I set it up? If so, it wouls keep trying to connect.

Internet was fine, BT new Halo hub merrily glowing blue, iPad and phone both fine. Thought waiting for box to re-connect pointless and frustrating, so went into settings where it showed crosses against the internet connection indicators, so followed instructions on screen and did what I do if my iPad ever goes offline, i,e., manually reset it and re-enter password after selecting our particualr bb name.

All was fine until around 9pm, when downloads were failing again. On further inspection, box had jumped offline again. Repeated what I'd done in the morning, box back online.

Haven't been downstairs yet to see what the status of anything Sky-related currently is, but am expecting it to be offline again.

I wouldn't mind so much, but our new Halo password is loooooonnnnnnng, and putting it in every 12 hours or so is v tedious 🤬

I don't know if that account helps you ascertain what's up, but we didn't change anything that the engineer set up on Monday. Apologies for not understanding the lingo, I'm not exceptionally tech-savvy, and sit in awe of those of you who clearly are.

I just like great TV and an **bleep** that our new, hard-negotiated (by me, during a torturous 3 and a half hours telcon with 4 different Sky CS staff) package apoears to be failing so dismally.

We didn't have to faff around with DNS or other settings on any of our previous Sky boxes to receive, record, download, etc (partner is  a Diamond VIP of 23 years' standing, I've been an authorised user for 11 years). and it is seriously ticking me off that it's all being left to the paying customers to sort out whatever the mess at the box end is.

We all of us pay good money for a service. Not many of us are actually getting that service atm.

Another poster said they took the box-going-offline events as a sign that Sky were doing something positive at their end. I remain unconvinced. It's just another 🤬 issue to contend with.

Man, I'm **bleep** with Sky! Thank you for trying to help, I appreciate your help 😊 🙏

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@SS123456x As I thought, I've had to reset the internet connection again this morning. When I came downstairs and switched it on, on-screen message said "There is a problem with your internet connection. To check your settings, select Network Setup." Then "There is a problem connecting to your broadband router," with the option of continuing to select a different router by selecting Reset. Below that was the name of our network, followed by crosses against "Connection to broadband router" and "Connection to internet."

Went to reset, re-entered our loooonnnng password (again, 3rd time in 24 hours) and currently all is fine in that respect.

As before, my BT Halo hub looks fine, internet working as normal on iPad, phone, and laptop, so for whatever reason, the Q box isn't talking to the internet connection whilst all other devices are managing that just fine.

This is seeming more and more like a Sky issue to me. Either that, or BT's software/firmware is causing incompatibility problems with Sky's software/firmware.

Am getting increasingly disillusioned about all of this.

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

@Discombobulated3  Your connection issue is not the same as list thread, suggest you contact SKY and trouble shoot why its losing connection, might be its too far away from the router or doesn't like the channel\frequency

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

It took me 48 hours to finally watch Succession series 3 episode 6. Thought to myself it would be nice to watch episode 7. No chance. Off we go again.

FIX IT SKY

Re: SkyQ Download Failed Item Unavailable

It's opposite the router, less than 8' away in the same room!

Looking through posts here, I'm not the only one whose box is losing internet connection. This is a Sky problem, either with the box or the signal. After the 3 and a half hour trauma we went through to upgrade a week ago last Sunday, I'm not sure I'm up to doing battle with Sky's Unhelpful Desk again today. I still haven't recoverec from last time!
