Are you sure it's a Sky issue and not a BT issue? Sometimes a firmware update can change things. Maybe a BT firmware update changed something. Do you know for sure who's doing what? Sure, it could be a Sky issue, but I'm not going to blame BT or Sky. It could just be some sort of incompatability.

This only started on Sunday for me, SKY said the box had the latest software over a week ago and my BT hub firwmware has not been updated in months. As the issue is intermittant, only on a SKY box SKY content and seems to be constant during peak periods in my experince is a server\infrastructure bandwidth issue

When it is during the peak periods, do you find your broadband is slower or has higher pings?

No, I have FTTP and its rock solid and very fast and I use it all day for work.

If it was my issue then why at the same time all SKY ones fail can I download without issue BBC ones and use Netfix off the same box?

Downloaded a film last night, about 22:30. All was good 

just downloaded another (05:25)

also going well, so at the moment it seems my gremlins have left the building. 
I will report back at lunch time with an update. 
FYI: My download ability has been intermittent for three days, so I'm not dancing on the ceiling yet.

I'm not a technical person, but I can't understand how an intermittent but quite specific fault can be caused by an outside system such as the internet provider. I can download freely from some channels but not others. 
This leaves me to assume the problem is at the supply end rather than the delivery or reception end.

Update:  Still having the same problem downloading to sky box but ok downloading to pc via sky Go

This is definitely a Sky issue as this morning I managed to download the Sky Channel programs that just wouldn't work last night. Seems that Sky is struggling to cope with supplying programs intermittently,  but even while you can't download Sky Channel content you can download other channel content with no problem or use Netflix or Prime with no issue. I work in IT, definitely a Sky back office issue....nothing to do with the ISP.

Various series and episodes, also issues with catch-up but works via the app (on the Q box)

Managed to download The Sopranos S5 Ep5, but half way through watching it, picture pixellated, froze and sound disappeared. After an ad break, programme returned to previous segment instead of continuing from where it was before the break.

Therefore, situation still unresolved as far as I am concerned.

Not with BT and Yellowjackets S01E02 is downloading no problem. Not with Sky yet.

I still think it's a problem with BT until someone can say otherwise. Maybe those times where Sky isn't downoading has to do with BT being overloaded and having too much of a ping delay or something else.

@MarkPJONES23 just for clarification as I know you have stated that BT is not your ISP can you confirm who is ? it may help when collating all the information.

Same issue here for the last few days, spoke to Sky who said they weren't aware of the problem and then sent me to BT!
