Can you feed the sound out from your TV via optical, alternatively does your amp support ARC from the TV via HDMI instead ?

Cant see how to quote but currently
Optical from Sky Q to amp
Optical from TV to amp (Once the consoles stopped putting in optical connections) and for content through my Smart TV
Amp isn't atmos anyway so it'll just go 5.1 or whatever is broadcast. Not a deal breaker I don't use it much anymore.

since there's some sky glass experts saying how amazing this tv is could they also explain why a £1000 tv has local dimming issues that result in flickering squares widely reported ? Mine also has this issue sky glass 65" white

Sky's reputation with hardware is not good. You gambled by ordering the first generation of their latest attempt. It's a shame it didn't pay off. All you can do is return it.

I don't have flicker in my local dimming no faults at all so far

I wanted to replace an older 32" TV in the kitchen with the 43" Glass.
I like the idea of integrated Dolby Atmos soundbar, bigger screen and pucks that would never give the message that they aren't connected to the main box which currently happens too often with Q.
The main bugbear was the playlist feature that initially appeared to max out at 1000 hours and finding that adding some programmes like Emmerdale would bundle old and current episodes together. It was unclear as to how that affected your notional 1000 hours.
From reading posts it later became clear that Glass would merely direct you to ITV Hub with its rubbish SD picture quality to view historic content.
Aside from this it seems that you get directed to the start of the programme each time even if you have viewed half of a streamed episode earlier and that necessitates re-visiting adverts all over again?
For some, possibly younger subscribers, streaming content is maybe just up their street but for older members, with wives, who watch 'Steph's Packed Lunch' and some 'Loose Women' broadcasts etc., Glass doesn't seem to fit the bill.
Many programmes don't appear on catch-up at all.
Sadly I had to cancel my order. I hope to re-apply in the future if the family's general way of viewing saved content could continue. As it is I have access to various streaming channels and a simple way of viewing saved HD terrestrial channels' content.

sorry if this is elsewhere in other threads but the playlist thing is not computing for me.
Okay i record loads of things from the planner. I understand on glass you cant record as there is no physical medium to do so - fine. If i had glass would i be able to go to a future programme on Sky Max and add it to my playlist so that when i wanted to watch it after it has live streamed i would simply access my playlist (at my own leisure) and simply stream that content? Or am i getting it wrong?

Sorry mate, picture quality is rank!
26 Oct 2021 10:22 PM
I agree, the picture quality on my Medium sky glass to is abysmal, I can't believe this was signed off and then they have the big presentation, wonder how many of skys high flying execs actually have swapped their very expensive tvs for this?
26 Oct 2021 10:27 PM
Did you watch the big presentation, billions of colours bursting out of the screen.........not!!

With the amount sky make through their subscription model they could easily develope a tv that would rival my Samsung QLED and flog it for £800 for 55", simple fact is they havent.
If I went & paid £800 for a 4k telly & it produced the picture that my 55" sky glass is I would be extremely disappointed.
Yes it has a Dolby atmos sound bar built in but if I'm honest I'm not that impressed with that either.
Sky will be getting a call tomorrow to arrange the return & I will revert to Samsung tv & stand alone Dolby atmos sound bar along with sky q.

What can you actually record? Can I record more4hd and sky witness HD and 5hd
