You don't record, you add to a playlist similar to the Netflix model, it is then streamed from the playlist.

Thanks I don't want a row off the wife for not getting home and away and hollyoaks added nightly to watch at weekend, now just to call sky as they are sending me a blue tv when I ordered white

You can add upcoming programmes to the list, they will just be added as soon as they are broadcast.

Streamed from the content provider which the Playlist item points to would be more accurate. Comparing Playlist to Netflix isn't necessarily helpful, as by definition Netflix curate all their own content in advance of release and store it at the highest possible quality, which isn't the case for some of the catch-up apps.

Thanks for that!
I was just saying you can add to a playlist which isn't unlike netflix.
Im pretty sure the guy I was actually trying to answer got the gist!

Again, no, not for non-Sky channels: content is added as the on-demand workflow of the channel concerned permits, assuming they have appropriate distribution rights.

Yip got the gist, the wife can worry about it,
I watch sky arts and documentarys and mainly netflix and was going to buy a separate dolby atmos for sound but sky glass seems to cover most things so will see how it goes

Wow, take a break, I have my sky glass playlist in front of me and I have content added from sky, itv, bbc, Netflix etc etc!
So as I said you don't record you add content to your playlist, pretty much like Netflix!!

@lfcg wrote:I agree, the picture quality on my Medium sky glass to is abysmal, I can't believe this was signed off and then they have the big presentation, wonder how many of skys high flying execs actually have swapped their very expensive tvs for this?
The image itself is IMHO pretty good and detailed, the problem is the colours. None of the defaults seem anywhere near being well-calibrated, I known obvious there is the panel lottery so one set will never be perfect for everyone but with how far off they are I just don't see them being close for anyone. And the level of adjustment available with this in mind just isn't good enough, it's one size fits all on custom for all types of content and inputs unlike most TV's where every input allows its own adjustments and you can tweak settings differently for SDR, HDR and DV content.
The viewing angles also are really poor which in a normal living room can make getting a good image for everyone nigh on impossible as it quickly starts to see one side get washed out depending on what side of centre you are sitting
As you said the fact they are getting sub money they could have put a panel with better viewing angles even if image quality wasn't any better and spent more time on getting the calibration right so people had less need for custom settings.

It all depends on the channel or even the specific piece of content.
Some will record on your cloud drive and play back almost like off the Q box (but with things like fast forward being much less responsive), others will take you to their on-demand service (which in some cases means you won't be able to view it for hours, days or even weeks), others will take you to other 3rd party services (which you may not sub to) and others just won't do anything (Frasier is a good example, that doesn't record and Channel4 don't have streaming rights and seemingly no other services does)

Yes, any program from the TV guide can be added to your playlist.

That isn't exactly true as I just told him in my reply. You need to stop misselling it to people as Sky are doing a good enough job of doing that already themselves. People need to know what a mess that side is so they can make an informed decision of if its something they want to put up with
26 Oct 2021 11:22 PM
I'm not misselling as you put it, I have done exactly as described in my post, if you would've taken time to read my original posts I am more than unhappy with the performance of sky glass but I just answered a question honestly, I've added series from all providers be it sky, Netflix or terrestrial tv channels and they have all played back no problem, if you've encountered something different then that's a shame.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt's worth noting that many people have encountered something different. It's important that potential customers understand that whilst every programme can be added to the Playlist, some might never be available to watch.
