Sky q hdmi audio output

Hi, I've looked everywhere but can't find the answer. I've got the soundbox hooked up via hdmi, what audio output should I select on the sky q settings, normal or Dolby digital?

Hi @FWKHR364 

It's whichever you prefer 

The Soundbox will try to interpret the sound mix and put the sound out of whichever of its speakers it thinks will reproduce the right sound 

It depends also on the source material and how it's mixed. Sometimes the Soundbox can't cope with some of the very complex Dolby mixes and there are occasions where I put mine on to "Normal" and it sounds just fine  😀

Do you know what sky's official setup tells you to put it on? What does the normal setting mean in terms of what it's audio output is?

I don't think I've ever seen a recommendation as such.  When I get home I have the instruction book from Sky and will check 

I've always assumed the "normal" setting is stereo - but again - will go through any papers I have and will repost if I have anything useful to add

From page 11 of the Soundbox instruction booklet - it talks about "selecting the correct input" and under that it points you to 

Digital Audio Output HDMI / Dolby Digital - so that would seem to be the recommended setting  (makes sense although my view on this is always - "whichever you prefer" )

Although I can't find it in Sky print - everything I've seen around the forums confirms -Normal means Stereo
