Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSounds to me like you just need a Sky Q booster between the main box and the mini box.

I've left it a while to reply, as I've been waiting to see if I've continued to get problems or not.
Quick background: after having main box and 2 minis installed the connection was sketchy to say the least. I decided to go down the Ethernet route and have now run cables from my router to the main box and each of the minis.
Unfortunately I discovered that even with a wired connection I was still getting regular disconnects. After lots of investigating I narrowed this down to the router connection on the main box. Basically if the router restarts for whatever reason the frequent disconnection errors that everyone is describing start again. The way I have fixed this consistently is to reset the network connection on the main box whenever the router restarts - go to settings, status, network connection, network setup, reset.
I don't have to change anything on the minis, they reconnect automatically. Be aware that after a couple of minutes the mini will drop connection for a couple of seconds and then come back in with no further disconnects. This short disconnect seems to be to do with the SSID updating (I don't have Sky broadband).
I know most people here are describing issues with minis over WiFi, but perhaps try resetting the connection on your main box and see if it cures the problem as it has on my wired connection.
I hope this helps. Ian.

I agree. Sky installed two of those.

It'll probably make someone opening the post chuckle anyway.
If you are going to value your time so highly, it would probably have made sense to use a spell checker, check your grammar, and sentence structure.

If you are VAT registered, I think you can only charge that if you're providing a service, not to reclaim lost earnings as the VAT isn't your money.

I have had Sky Q for about 2 years now, and the first 2 years have been brilliant, the engineers installed the system, fitted a boosterbox where required.
I have had virtually no issues at all in that time apart from very bad weather sometimes effects the signal.
In the last month or so my mini box (via a booster box) has started losing connection it happens pretty much every day now reseting via the menu doesnt work, however a hard reset of the mini box ie powering off and holding the reset button on the box seems to fix it, but a day later (or so) its lost connection again.
I am not sure if there has been some sort of sortware "upgrade" recently as all the hardware is the same as it always has been. But whatever has happened its gone from being very stable to very unstable.

@philtr1 Exaclty the same experience that I have had as per other threads on here. For me it makes no sense, however I have seen other threads where there is talk of a known issue with STP at the networking level, however it is at a level of which I have no knowledge, but from what I have understood it could be causing the issues that I have been facing since Jan.

hey saw this post and been relating to everything being said haha
sky q has been great for 1 year and half but last month or so connectivity issues and internet keeps dropping on the main box and mini?
this defininetly has to be a software problem on skys end.
if anyone has any ideas on a fix would be appreciated.

@RajP58 I've been trying to get a solution from sky or work one out by trying different combinations and permutations of configuration/connectivity for almost 3 months, however can't get any resemblence of stability/trouble free setup like it used to be.

Hi @Rhonny thanks for your helpful advice to reconnect with Sky. It's almost a week now since Sky engineer visited. He reset everything, checked everything and we have had full connectivity on main box & mini, even in middle of the night!. He took no time at all to fix problems & he was fully PPE'd so it was a good result all round.

Hi had this problem and searched for an answear. This is what worked for me. Goto setting on main sky q box don't press anything! Type 001 and enter. Goto Network and turn off 2.4hz and confirm. Re pair q mini and goto settings on mini and do the same as above. (you may need to re pair remote with q mini, this confused me for a while as remote wouldn't work) Hope this helps
