Re: Sky HDR

Well I was shocked to find my box was version 1. I only took sky q in august 2019. My original  2TB developed the dreaded pixelatin fault. Engineering visit confirmed it was broken and the box replaced with what I now assumed was a refurbished box or very old stock. It has worked faultlessly but I do now feel anoyed. I don't want a third box in which case loose recording etc, which is what is going to have to happen.

"Until the journey has been built..."

I feel sick to the core that you think this is a reasonable phrase to use as part of an explanation. Do you think we're stupid?

Re: Sky HDR

It does as I downloded some HDR content from Sky Wild and I can confirm my TV output goes to HDR HGL when I play it.

Re: Sky HDR

@GoldenPhoenix Ditto mate .. if i miss out on the initial HDR content .. so be it but as you write they have no timeframe for there much-vaunted pathway is it a month, 6 ,or a year or beyond .. as i have wrote previous at least 3 S Tech people that in time HDR will become a bundle and then a upgrade to it will enable a swap .. now they could all be wrong , but that makes more financial sense for SKY .. how many years have they charged for HD 14 i make it BTW .

Re: Sky HDR

See this article here, sky-finally-upgrades-4k-uhd-hdr-your-sky-q-compatible But it appears that your box is not compatible

The technology didnt exist when the first sky q boxes came out this has been explained countless times already today. I will use the same analogy as earlier. Would you ring apple and complain that your iPhone 5 doesn't have wireless charging yet the iPhone X does.....No because the technology wasn't available same as the sky boxes. Would you ring up and complain your CRT Sony TV doesn't have 4k hdr....no because it's older technology just wait it out and see what happens it's been released a day

Yeah but your analogy is faulty because I don't rent my phone from Apple, but when i signed up to Sky Q it was made clear i dont own the equipment, I am renting it therefore its not unreasonably to expect upgrades because as minor as it might seem, the fact remains that it causes divergence in the user base where two people might be paying the same amount but one is receiving s lightly inferior service.

Re: Sky HDR

I cant see any programs in HDR but only in UHD, is there any difference?

Also, I can only see that it says false about my box with regards UHD, is this correct?

Re: Sky HDR

I just found out by reading an online article that my Sky Q 2 TB box doesn't support HDR.

My hardware version is 32B063 which is the only hardware variant that isn't supported !

Re: Sky HDR

I do appreciate that you are trying to help us understand the situation.

However, your analogy doesn't make sense in this context.

A better way to think of it would be to think about how Apple would look if they changed the features of the iPhone 5 from one week to the next.

When you subscribe to Sky Q, you are effectively buying the right to view their output (perhaps in HD).

What you are definitely not subscribing to is a version of the hardware. In fact, you don't get to know that until after you have paid your money and had the system installed.

Do you see?

Re: Sky HDR

I've downlaoded Pridelands: Wilderness Reborn and can confirm my SkyQ 2Tb box with external power supply does support HLG.

So does my Loewe Bild 7.55 as it shows HLG on the TV Info button. Result. It's not as spectacular as HDR / Dolby Vision on 4K Blu-rays but better than not having it.

Loewe Bild 7.55 OLED TV; Sky Q 2Gb; Arcam AVR21 AVR; B&W CM4 / CMC / 702 / 663 speakers, Oppo UHD203 player, AppleTV.
