Re: Sky HDR

@JOHNGALLEY  Never say never. If this was an argument about Dolby Vision it might be more understandable, but HDR - really?

Re: Sky HDR

@PBS83  I would say that this initial release of HDR on Sky is not the concern for those with V1 boxes it's the subsequent roll out of more content and those with a V1 box at present will still have a V1 box .. Sky have been vague and that is being kind to when any box swapping will happen .. that is my gripe Sky are guaranteeing nothing going forward

Re: Sky HDR

Thanks and sorry im  not up with all this, i have all the episodes and version 112. When watching the programme it says uhd, but i thought it would say hdr so you know you have it. Picture is good but how do i know its in hdr. Also i dont need to turn contrast setting to high on accessibility menu as it just seems to turn the bacground from blue to black background screen.

Re: Sky HDR

@Mikeyboy67  your box & hardware are not supported you need a v2 or v3 box to get HDR content

Re: Sky HDR

@Chicklet83, my advice do not hold your breath on Sky. Use smart tv apps and enjoy Netflix, Disney and Amazon . The journey that's being discussed is like lord of the rings & the hobbit. Two tier viewing, it's too difficult for Sky to bring it to its Q audience..... perhaps I should drive to test my eyes first & squint at the tv

@Super+Anthony have you made sure

A your Sky box us one that can handle HDR

And

B your TV can handle HLG HDR,

When start playing most TVs will put a notice up saying you are watching in HLG

@Kei+M

I'd love to agree with you and do appreciate this... But... Hdr has been touted by sky for a few years. Any decent software developer should have a been able to sort this issue out. There is now a division between sky q customer. Paying the same yet getting two different things. Its poor

Re: Sky HDR

@Laing1 Thanks for your help

A - My Box I was told by Sky was that it would work fine - 32B206

B - I was told by Sony that yes it would work, but am now watching the programe you advised, but could not see a message saying HLG?

Re: Sky HDR

@Maverick1975 , it's not HDR it's HLG. It's royalty free and been around for 5 years. Believe in better but your not actually going to get it.... or very few are. It's all about the journey

@Maverick1975 It's not a software problem. The V1 boxes physically cannot deal with HDR the hardware in them is too old

Re: Sky HDR

@Super+Anthony , same set up as me. Sky not interested as they are on a journey but they don't know where they are going

Re: Sky HDR

@Paulonthetelly

It's just a variety of hdr the same as dolby vision etc. It was developed to alow both hdr and sdr content in the same stream to allow for compatible and non compatible tvs to still access the content, in hdr or not. Meta data is still used the same. Its static just like hdr 10 so is less complex than other varieties. Sky has big style dropped the ball here

@Super+Anthony  My Sony does not give any indication that it is showing HLG but it shows in the settings and my Q box is on 4K 10bit. Good picture though so I am happy with that.
