No, it's the hardware in the Q box that matters (plus the Sky subscriptions you have, and your TV).

Re: Sky HDR
A lot of unhappy people about and still no official word about how they're going to sort this or even an apology from Sky.
In the short term, myself and I'm sure many others would be placated with a simple but formal explanation about how we will be provided with this service.

Re: Sky HDR
I'm Def a V1 box. Have multiroom. Is there still absolutely no way to get recordings from one main box to another if I was to get a newer one 😂

Re: Sky HDR
The exponential growth of this thread this morning (and I'm sure it will continue this afternoon too) will be deflecting attention away from the "Cummings" issue !

Re: Upgrade old Sky Q 2TB to new version for HDR
Just for completness to close off the subject of this thread title specifically and I know main thread has the answers covered already.
There is currently no upgrade/swap out path from a none HDR box to an HDR one.
And again from main thread, list of boxes and compatibilty with HDR can be found here:

Re: Sky HDR
@Ultramelon I'll probably be accused of being "first world" again but this is typical Sky. All marketing and no strategy. I have it from a senior Sky engineer (not a box connector who comes to your house) that this is all caused by Sky diving into UHD too early and not factoring in HDR. So there are tens of thousands of early boxes out there that can't handle it. It's a huge strategic blunder by Sky...

@GreenLantern there is no hdr popup with a q90r, they only way to tell what input is to go to the home button, scroll to the left to input..

Unfortunately all Recordings leave with the old box. The only realistic way to avoid this would be if the boxes were designed with swappable hard-drive caddies, which would have been nice.

Re: Sky HDR
@Ultramelon I will apologize on behalf of Sky for not providing an apology to you. If it means you stop sounding like a broken record we will get round to updating your boxes when we can please be patient. You are our favourite "early adopter" there's a t-shirt in the post.
Now please stop sounding like a broken record we knew you wanted an apology yesterday so there's no need to keep updating us on the fact.
