Re: Sky HDR
Only reason I brought a new tv was so I could watch my £100 plus a month Sky supscription in HDR.
That's a very poor reason to buy a new TV when Sky had not even indicated until last week that any HDR would be available. Surely the reason to buy the new TV should have been to watch Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime in HDR?
And as mentioned, you shouldn't be paying that much, unless you have the entire Sky TV package plus broadband and calls.

Re: Sky HDR
If Sky replace the V1 box free of charge so I can watch in HDR then fine and I understand the delay because of Covid-19. But as this is yet to be confirmed I remain sceptical. Would like to of been kept in the loop by Sky to be fair, a single email would suffice instead of playing a guessing game.

Re: Sky HDR
I've got one of the v1 2tb unsupported boxes, just booked an engineer visit in for it crashing regularly and the hard drive sounding like it's about to fail. Anyone have a clue what they will swap it with?

Re: Sky HDR
Sick and tired of Sky screwing over their loyal customers. Once again, you get nothing but a kick in the teeth for being an early adopter of Q.
Sky should not have launched HDR without first swapping out the old, incompatible boxes. We pay for Sky Q as a service and don't "buy" the hardware, so its perfectly reasonable for us to expect Sky to provide suitable hardware to use their service...that is what we pay for after all and why we pay a premium.
Cov-19 is not a reasonable excuse, they could have prepared for this a long time before cov-19 hit. They better not now try and charge us for a swap out too, that would be a proper sucker punch!
Sadly nothing will change, and since Sky have no effective competition in the UK they don't need to.

Re: Sky HDR
Like others have stated. Picture looks good on the lemur programme. I have a v2 box and a tv that accepts hdr/hlg but I have no idea or how to prove if the uhd version is just good uhd or hdr - no pop up for me.
I did look to see what the latest software version was in the thread but cannot find it. I tried a manual push for a software update and the "update" been progressing for a few minutes. Was showing Q112.000.21.00L
The upgrade finished and the box neededto reboot. It's all back on and the software version didn't change. Odd.
Still didn't get a pop up when I switched the lemurs back on.

Re: Sky HDR
@Rhonny even then he shouldn't be paying that much I think all in when I had my discounts I was paying 66 and that's the full package of everything TV and broadband. Then with the free sky TV oled offer for 18months on top I'm down to 24 all in

Sky, like pretty much every other company with call centres, have had to massively reduce the number of people working in them. They're trying to enable remote working, but little problems, like being able to get hold of a few thousand laptops and deploy the necessary software on them, at the same time as many other companies are doing that, is a challenge.
So they've got call centres running at probably less than 50% of normal staffing levels. Not an ideal time to contact all the v1 owners and generate a huge amount of inbound calls requesting box swaps.
Once they've got the process in place, then it should be straightforward to arrange swaps. I doubt they'll add huge amounts of HDR content until they can easily upgrade users either.

Re: Sky HDR
@Cooper8181 unless they decide on a hdr subscription at a later date then we all will be annoyed of course it will be a free box upgrade as we only rent the equipment. If sky do decide to charge then "discover" a fault with your box which will then be changed free of charge as it is now

Re: Sky HDR
I have been a Sky subscriber for over 30 years and have always upgraded to the next major development like HD and SKY Q.
Having seen that my SKY Q V1 2tb box is not capable of receiving HDR is a major disappointment.
I also understand that SKY are not upgrading the boxes in the foreseeable future which compounds my disappointment.
My contract is up for renewal in December and if I have not received an upgraded box I shall be cancelling my contract.
I have been eagerly awaiting the HDR implementation and not to be able to take advantage of this feature is a game changer for me in terms of staying with SKY.

Re: Sky HDR
I don't believe Sky has ever said anything about Covid-19 being a reason for not swapping boxes. That's just what a number of people have surmised, and so (this forum being what it is), this has now become gospel. They're just not swapping boxes out right now.

Fortunately my 2TB boxes works on my LG OLED, HLG HDR pops up on the screen when viewing the nature channel "gangs of Lemur". About time Sky, about time🙄🙄
