Re: Sky HDR

@PBS83  Thank you but I am correctly seeing HDR-HLG but this switching of inputs is needed across all my devices - see my later post to the one you quote.

Re: Sky HDR

Does HDR show up as a separate format to UHD in the "more formats" section?  I've just searched for Gangs of Lemur Island and only seeing SD, HD and UHD.

@reebokrebel no you need to download the UHD version

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Sky Broadband Hub/SR203, Sky Ultrafast broadband
Ultimate on Demand, Q Experience/UHD, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema

Re: Sky HDR

So there are no plans to upgrade the V1 boxes so we can receive HDR? Feels like your punished for being an early adapter of Sky Q. Only reason I brought a new tv was so I could watch my £100 plus a month Sky supscription in HDR. Would have to seriously consider sticking with Sky if their most loyal customers are treated this way.

Re: Sky HDR

@rscott, it's not HDR, it's old technology. My TV is capable of accepting hlg and hdr so it must be my outstanding q box update. I suppose that will be updated in due course.

Re: Sky HDR

Well it looks like I have a V1 21tb box, even though I only joined Sky Q a few weeks ago (install the week before lockdown)

I actually ordered the new 1Tb UHD box, but the installer had none left on hjs van so gave me the 2Tb box.  Made a big thing about how I was getting a much better box (£200 more expensive) than the box I'd ordered.

Re: Sky HDR

@rozel

No, I meant it might sound patronising for me to tell you about your TV when you're also a Samsung forum member too!!

I have my Sky Q connected straight to the KS via HDMI, with sound out from the TV to soundbar. So I don't have any switching issues brought about by AV equipment.

Try the Q box direct to the TV, just to see what I'm referring to about the automatic switching on a KS.

Re: Sky HDR

As i have a V1 box disappointed that i cant get HDR yet

Atr least it gives me time to watch the series that i have recorded and not watched yet that are not on catch up before Sky replace the Box

I hope Sky will replace VIP Diamond customers first

As has been posted a few dozen times in this thread, Sky are working on a process to upgrade v1 boxes, but the rollout of that has been impacted by COVID19. Hence the reason for the low key launch of HDR with only a small range of content.

Re: Sky HDR

@Cooper8181, they got your money and their not interested. It's not HDR anyway... so don't get too upset stuck with Netflix/Disney and Amazon. Splashed  all over the media what they are bringing from today ....  but wait there's a pandemic on so there's a delay

What do you mean when you say it's not HDR? Of course it's HDR.

HLG is HDR. It's one of the newer standards - only formally agreed in late 2016, nearly a year after Q had launched.  The BBC were one of the leading, players, along iwith NHK (their Japanese equivalent) in development of it and use it for all their HDR content.

That's why a lot of TVs released in 2016 and before don't support it - like the v1 Q box, the hardware was developed before the standard existed, meaning it's simply not always possible to add support for it in software.

Re: Sky HDR

@rscott  how dare a global pandemic cause issues to a global company with delivery of a new box don't they realise some people pay a premium subscription and that is more important than people dying. I for one will be contacting sky about this on behalf of all people who can't get an upgrade I demand the same service for everyone
