Re: Sky Glass Delivered
There is a video uploaded by someone on YouTube (I found the link in the AVForums thread) and the playlist thing looks awful! I mean really awful!! He "recorded" just one episode od air crash investigation, but he couldn't find it again. Because it bookmarked every episode of every series, and the links were for Disney+, which he doesn't subscribe to, he couldn't find it again. I maybe cancelling my order after watching the videos. Maybe the delay in sending it out to me is a blessing. I'll think about it over the weekend. If they are things that can be easily fixed with updates, then that's fine. You can't even search in Netflix. If Sky doesn't find it, there is no manual search option as Netflix is baked into the ui. Oh dear!

Re: Sky Glass Delivered
@gizmo120 I'm sure with time Sky will fix/improve a lot of this stuff in response to user feedback. They may not be responding publically yet but will be reading all these posts. Of course I can also understand why some early adopters might not want to be beta testers and are not prepared to wait for the inevitable improvements...

Re: Sky Glass Delivered
& also Starlink is available in the UK now.
A godsend for me living in the sticks in the New Forest miles from a cabinet with FTTC being years away let alone FTTP.
Starlink gives me +200 mbs down / +40 up vs 6 down/0.5 up on copper
Total rural internet game changer 👍

@Shooms Wow, an expensive option. But, if it fills a gap. Have you noticed any service availability or latency issues ? Perhaps it was me but couldn't really get any details of their up/down sped on their web site. And i just opted for somewhere in the New Forest area care of Dr Google.

Re: Sky Glass Delivered
@CyberFriday definitely expensive (£89 a month plus nearly £500 for the hardware but that does include first months subscription) but there was no viable alternative, I tried both EE & Voda 4g routers (I'm no where near 5g) but for about £50 a month they barely broke 20 mbs so £89 for Starlink is 'value for money' in comparison.
Starlink service has been on the whole really decent with very little outages or drops. I work from home on videoconferencing a lot & ocassional get drops for a few seconds but nothing too painful. I don't online game so can't comment on latency or lag but attaching a few stat screen shots 👍

I'm hugging my Sky Q box tonight. Was so close to jumping ship to Sky Glass but thank goodness I didn't. I'll never take my Sky Q for granted again

Starlink would be expected to have higher latency than fixed-line broadband, but considerably less then traditional satellite internet via geosynchronous platform as the distances involved are hugely less: c2000 vs c140,000 km round trip

Re: Sky Glass Delivered
@years+with+sky he's put another up today showing some improvements already. I'm still getting one and if they've fixed some issues within a few days, I'm sure they'll fix more within weeks. It's new but I have confidence now that things will get better.

Re: Sky Glass Delivered
@gizmo120 agreed I am happy woth mine and will continue to grow all new generations of everything will have theethiing issues and we have to adapt but you also have the right to choose to stay with the Sky Q box that you know and trust.
Sky Glass will continue to grow and evolve to better suit certain people, there are still some customers who would still have Sky HD boxes as they dont want to leave them and Sky are prepered for some customers to remain too.

Agree, and you'd think that it would be the same for any programme on a channel that has an App, where that programme doesn't get put on it.

And here was me thinking as consumers our sky dishes/Hd/Q boxes are just a receiver.

@Shooms Thanks. Good to know it works for you and nice to see some data on it. How's your experience with 4K UHD movies either on native TV apps or Sky Q ? I must admit if we were more rural and no prospect of fttp or 5G i'd be tempted to give that a try.
I see there is some way to go before Starlink reach their on orbit target. I notice the concerns about the increased in orbit collision risk from this constellation. Although they state that their orbit height is such that they will eventually decay and burn up on re-entry once they stop working.
