SD channels
Are sky planning to phase out all its SD channels to all HD ones. Sky cinema have already lost 3 channels and because of memory space on my HD box I wouldn't get many films saved for my last 20% memory left on my 2TB box. I only record in SD and because I would lose everything saved if I went to sky Q, well that moves not gna happen.
So can anyone tell me what sky's plans are, because its not like they are struggling for extra numbers on the EPG so they don't need to lose channels to make room for others. Still plenty of space left to fill before you get to that point.
Gary

Re: SD channels
@w0wzer Only Sky would be able to tell you, but there's been no announcement about SD Channels going anywhere. BBC don't have HD channels in regions so they aren't going anywhere.
I suspect not many people record movies live when they are all available to download in HD or SD.

Re: SD channels
I have many films, for are sake you recorded off itv all the star wars films, because you are a huge fan OK. Now you look to see if you can download them to watch, and you can't you would have to buy them. I have lots of films that I enjoy watching over and over that are not available to watch. And even if you could find them many, not all but many have a date it will be deleted from your list. Whereas if its been recorded live it will be with you forever.
I enclose a pictures
with my point . And if its recorded in SD and that channel is not an option any more, will you still be able to watch it
Thanks Gary

Re: SD channels
Sky boxes are designed for timeshifting and not archiving of programmes, if you want to keep a programme forever then the correct way is to purchase the Digital copy, DVD, Bluray etc... a sky subscription does not give you the rights (license) to keep a recordings forever

Re: SD channels
@w0wzer At some point, your box or hard drive will fail and you will lose everything. Given that it's now over 5 years old (at least), that might not be too far away.

Re: SD channels
Well if that happens then that is something that I can live with, but until then its still a hard drive that can be used for as long as it still works, and saved to rewatch. But still doesn't help with my problem

Re: SD channels
@w0wzer I'm not clear what the pictures you posted are intended to show us. It might be just me. Can you give some commentary to make it clear what the problem is? I can see multiple part recordings, of which the one highlighted indicates that the recording was cancelled part way through, not deleted.

Re: SD channels
I asked if sky have plans to scrap SD channels as they have already lost 4 of the movie channels on SD . I only record in SD to save on space on the hard drive, as recording on HD user far more memory space.
And if they do will I still be able to watch anything recorded is SD if those channels on longer exist

Re: SD channels
The pictures show that you can't download some stuff you can only buy, and the past recording is what I have recorded but stopped and paused to not have all the commercials in there. So I watch the inbetweeners stopped recording when the adverts came on and restarted when they finished and stopped at the end.
The star wars shows you can't download it from on demand as its not there you can only buy it, but having recorded it I can watch it for as long as I want, and the third shows when you download from on demand some things have an auto delete and will be removed at that time, which again won't happen if its recorded live manually by yourself
Hope that makes more sense now

Re: SD channels
Can you access the movies you recorded from the 4 removed SD channels?
Sky will usually tell you (on the forum) of EPG changes a month or two before they happen

Re: SD channels
But more and more SD movie channels and going. There are 12 HD sky movie channels and only 7 or 8 if you include film 4 in SD. There is no sky hits or SciFi or animation or feel good in SD. They just took away the channels and the numbers they were on so it goes 842 premiers 845 greats, no 843+844, but in HD they run from 301 to 312 without skipping any numbers out in between

Re: SD channels
Because they change channel names its very hard to know what it was recorded on. Like these is no sky Disney movie channel now on the guide. The number is still the same they just changed the name of the channel to sky animation, so if the channel number is still there you can view so I have not gone through my whole recorded menu yet to see if it does.
