Hello,
I want to purchase a 2nd Sky Q mini box, which I want to install myself! My problem is, when I go to online to purchase I select self install, then the next page ask me to book a date for the engineer to visit! I'm totally confused, has anyone got any advice on this or do I need to ring sky? 🤔

It might be better to call. I can't think why you'd have an engineer install, I did mine myself. You might get a better deal over the phone. 👍

Note that you can't "purchase" any Sky Q boxes, you are loaned them. Any charge is an admin fee. If you cancel at any time, you have to return all Sky Q boxes.

Unless you're on Sky Broadband, the mini doesn't connect to your wifi. But maybe you are with Sky for broadband.

The Q boxes communicate using their own private WiFi mesh by default.
There are ways of using Ethernet but they won't be communicating to each other via your VM network.

Terabyte 😉
They do connect to your wifi (I can see my minis on my BT mesh) but they don't use it for TV streaming

I think you will find the minis can be seen on the network but do not correct directly - they connect to the main box's own wifi which in turn connects to your own network.
Thus there is a connection but not directly.
I actually use my mini to connect an AV amp connected to it via ethernet to link via this route to my network i.e the route from my AMP amp is Amp -> (ethernet)-> SKY Mini -> (SKY Main genereated wifi) - > SKY main -> (ethernet) -> My network BT Hub
In my BT hub stats my AV amp in the above case shows as connected via ethernet (as that is how the SKY main box connects & it doesnt know about the SKY wifi link between the main & mini)
