@nigea99 wrote:BTW You may get slightly better resolution by setting the SKY Q box resolution to 1080p
Main Menu -> Settings -> Setup -> Audio Visual -> Picture Resolution
Try both 1080p and 1080i and see which one looks best for you
I'm going to disagree with 1080p. It's best to let the TV do the deinterlacing when set to HD.

I have to agree the pictre quality for sky hd are shocking, So much so my sky box will go off on the 1st of january, i have had enough, i have phoned sky on 4 occasions to complain, And i was met with replies of oh it must be your tv or your dish alignment, bloody rubbish its your poor picture your pumping out i replied to C/S, i am just sick and tired of this big company ripping me off, i am not stupid, My panasonic 55 4k tv cost me just on £1,300 and they are telling me its nothing to do with them. i get beautiful pictures when i plug my humax 100s freesat box in from the hd channels, But sky are sticking the blame on subscribers for their own short comings. enough is enough from this money grabbing lot, up the bitrate sky, but somehow i dont think they will. Your HD pictures are a discrace. come january 1st my humax will be on, and i will then recive amazing HD pictures.

Sky have absolutely royalty taken the **bleep** over the last few years with the cuts to bitrates to squeeze more channels on to the transponders, the easiest program to see it on is the dark scenes on game of thrones on sky they are absolutely horrific yet on my box set on my Apple TV(HD also) it looks absolutely spot on, this year will also be my last TBH. They tried to also tell me it was my TV until I pointed out to them it was a calibrated £3.5k OLED

It's not Sky's fault for Game of Thrones. It's HBO's fault. Sky can only work with what they are given. There were lots of complaints online about the dark scenes from HBO. So don't blame Sky for what HBO gave them.

HBO supply the same to Apple and on my Apple TV it's pristine, when a Bitrate is cut it's most noticeable in dark scenes first

What does my head in sky must be aware of the shocking HD picture quality on the sports channels and film channels, And choose to do absolutely nothing about it, Even after telling them countless times, they still refuse to admit anything is wrong with the bitrate on sports and films, They must be able to see the quality forthemselves and they still do nothing, thats fine by me, I have ended my subscription, I am not paying sky anymore for c*ap picture quality.

The football in HD on BT Sport earlier today, was better PQ than Sky Q UHD HDR.

Sorry, but you are incorrect here. Why would there be many complaintsfrom HBO customers if the picture was good on HBO? Sky played what they got from HBO. It's not due to a low bitrate stream from Sky. It's due to the episode as it came from HBO. I remember all the goings on when after it aired and what was said about it.

Skys bitrate and picture quality has been going down hill for years, yet some people still feel the need to try and defend them to the hilt and try to imply it's either the persons TV or it's the actual TV show and nothing to do with sky.
As I have said my TV is a callabrated £3.5k 65" OLED and the same shows on Netflix, Prime and Apple TV look pristine yet on Sky the picture is a soft bit starved mess, even skys UHD football isn't a patch on BTsports UHD stream.

@woppy1 There is a thread someone started showing that Succession season 3 has a poor image quality. Others (myself included) are saying that it's not the case. Doyou have any idea why someone is getting a bad picture when others are not?
