The first episode of the latest series of Succession was very poor quality for a supposed HD channel. Very pixelated in dark areas with that strange flashing effect I've seen on other HBO shows through Sky. Anyone else notice this? The quality of the actual show was great, shame it was let down by the poor image.

I found the sound quality of Succession poor. I also found some other Sky channels sound poor, but the adverts were clear.

Have you got an OLED TV by any chance?

It may be suffering the common curse of having been mixed for a sound system using at least three channels: these audio tracks typically don't reproduce well on standard left/right TV speakers. If you don't already have one, adding even a cheap soundbar can make a significant difference to clarity.

I recall a lot of complaints about the picture quality of the TV series The Outsider a while back, also an HBO show. I found I was able to improve the picture by switching to Film mode on my TV.

No it's not a OLED.

Posted by a Sky employeeHey @magicrevolver,
Can you give some more detail on which part of the picture looks off to you? Also if you have any images that really helps in getting it looked at 😊

Sure. It's very grainy and 'blocky' on dark areas and there are lines across the screen at some points. I hope these pics illustrate some examples.

The strange lines always show if you display the OSD/time banner. What does it look like without that?

@magicrevolverHow does the first episode of the new season of Succession look if you watch a downloaded copy?

I've taken an image best I can whilst not on pause.
In darks areas there is a lot of banding and pixelation. It kind of flashes too. Perhaps I should take a video. It's the same on the recorded as well as the downloaded version. This is from the downloaded version.

No difference between downloaded or recorded.

@magicrevolver @Are you watching from a Q box or a mini? I noticed that with a mini, really dark scenes look better on the Q box.

Posted by a Sky employeeThanks alot for those! I'll get it sent over to be looked into😊

It's from a regular Q box (non UHD)
