My Sky Glass has updated the new firmware QS010.006.00P last night. So far seems great. Glass is running very fast.
I have noticed a few things...
VOICE ACTIVATION
*Much faster and seems to understand voice better
TV GUIDE
*Scrolls much faster when holding buttons down
PICTURE AND SOUND
*HDR picture mode - (New)
*Dolby Vision picture mode - (was there before I believe)
ACCESSIBILITY
*Beep when channel has Audio Description - Now gone
CONNECTED DEVICES
*HDMI inputs - Older device compatibility (New)
START UP AND STANDBY
*Enhanced experience - Streamlined
So far this is what I have found. I'm sure there are background things that have been implemented.
I personally think the picture quality looks clearer. To me it seems brighter and more detailed. It might just be my eyes but interesting to see if others think it has changed.
Overall I think Sky Glass is running much better. It's certainly slicker. Moving around is a lot more responsive and the TV itself turns on and off much faster. It actually turns on so quick now that I have found if I say "Hello Sky, BBC one", when the TV is in standby, the TV lands on the Homepage before it turns to BBC one.
I will see how well it performs and whether the niggly fault where the TV turns itself on randomly has been rectified.
Has anyone else received the update and noticed improvements?

There is no official documentation detailing what's in an update.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Leofinn the latest version on my system begins QS009 but going by Sky's recent practice QS010 ia about due. QS009 made no noticeable changes customers can notice. Sky told us the changes are mainly connected with forthcoming launches in other markets with Ireland due later this month.

Looks like they added some new voice features to Netflix and YouTube, as well as one new channel (FoodXP)

Adding channels isn't dependent on a software release though: that's just the journalist combining both in one story.

@TimmyBGood Ah thank you, good to know. While we're on the topic – do we know if adding channels to Galss is something Sky is looking to do regularly? Or is there a limit to how much they can have on Glass?

Sky will 'add' any channel which wishes to have a presence on the platform (as long as they meet both UK broadcasting standards and the technical requirements to do so). Whether channel owners choose for their product to be distributed on Glass is entirely up to them, though: Sky don't have a say in that.

@skillwill It's not simply a case of sky adding channels (with the exemption of there own) it's whether channel owners are prepared to foot the costs to be on glass more than limitations
@TimmyBGood Beat me to it

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@mercelous Good spot your post caused me to check my own units which have also updated. I can confirm the new HDR picture mode and the HDMI inputs compatability mode. I also agree that things seem faster.
The compatability mode should help, people with older disc players etc. The new picture mode presumably brightens HLG and HDR10 content just as the Dolby Vision setting did before. My set defaults to bright.
If Sky are following previous results only a small % of sets would have been updated if it doesn't break anything more will follow.

@Chrisee at th end of the queue here as always - i will let you know how fast it is in about 2 - 3 weeks time 🤣

@Anonymous Think 2 to 3 weeks is likely to be very optimistic for me unfortunately!!

@WG+Wright think you and I get the update around the same time - as usual!!!

Is there no way to select software update? Or you just have to wait for Sky to push it?
