Find out moreI would have thought that Sky would put some sort of blanking plug into the telephone sockets when sending the new hub out to customers that shouldn’t use it. I imagine a lot of customers will “experiment” with the phone socket, resulting in support calls to Sky.

Lan connection in router statistics is showing a few Collision packets still.
An old firmware problem that always happened on the Sky Q hub.
This happens from what I can tell when the Sky Q mesh gets restarted.
It always did that on the Sky Q hub firmware, but did not for the most recent firmware.
There is a set password field to change the password for the settings pages.
It might be made clearer on that pages help that resetting that will not also change your wifi network key password.
Just thinking as its now by default using your wifi network key password to login, some may refrain from changing the settings page password thinking it may also reset your wifi network key password.
Notice under wifi, there is a bandwidth option to set it to either 20mhz or 20/40mhz
Not sure I saw that on the Sky Q Hub firmware.

Yes, that's my understanding of the practical implications of the wifi guarantee.
Edited to add: Sky Boost, that is, not Sky Buddy.

@Treble3 as far as I am aware you were able to turn the WiFi off on previous hubs and just use the ethernet connections

Not on the black version I have but there was mention of a grey version that might I suppose.
Is there no WANoE option on the black hub at all? If there isn't I guess switching to the new hub is out of the question as it's a requirement for my setup.

Looking at the earlier photos of the two versions, neither the black or grey versions have a WAN port. So presumably Sky will have a third version with a WAN port for connection to the Openreach ONT for the soon-to-be-released FTTP service?

The install instructions that came with the hub tell you to use the master socket or a microfilter for your landline phone connection.
So, expect that if you have G-fast or SoGea active then they will send out a different one in the box.
The ones on the web were what confused me, as it says;
'It comes as standard with Sky Broadband Ultrafast. And you might have it if you have Sky Broadband Superfast.

Yes there is a WAN port. It is the ethernet port on the right of the four. It has a purple word 'WAN' above the port.
A pic of it here;

But who reads the instructions!! I bet there'll be customers who try using the phone socket on the hub and then phone Sky to ask why it's not working. Just thought it would have been prudent for Sky to put a blanking plug into the telephone sockets.

Thanks for confirming that. Maybe @Chrisee had an earlier version.

Well day 2 of using the new hub and I've found that my Internet connection speed is worse than the Q hub. I was getting 35+mbps on the old router, this new one barely over 25, tested connection via sky website and it says my speed to the hub could be quicker and to book a free engineer visit. However it says that they have detected a problem with internal wiring. confused as its the master filter from the socket I used with the old router, tempted to send the new hub back
